Repetitive daily tasks
Order Picker (Former Employee) - Beamsville, ON - 17 February 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedPhysically demanding and requires attention to detail. It’s a greenhouse so it is dirty and hot year round. It is what you would expect from that environment, with seasonal hours varying. Summers are much busier and there is seasonal staff that will require training (and patience). The atmosphere with coworkers will be as positive as you make it.

Long hours, No overtime
Labourer (Former Employee) - Beamsville, ON - 22 June 2023
During their busy season (May-June), work days can be 16 or more hours a day. No overtime pay. Minimum wage. Not great management, they will yell and punish you for seemingly little to no reason, and expect you to work 16h+ a day everyday, and rolls eyes when asking to leave early due to exhaustion. Also - they don't tell you when you will be done work. You simply get sent home when work is over. Detrimental to your social and outside life. Nothing but work. This place is miserable and crushes spirits. Not worth it even for the short seasonal position - which BTW, they lay you off with no warning, right before you are to clock out and not come back.

Since starting everyone has been really helpful the job itself is not very stressful salary is a livable wage and the people that own the place are great they do a lot of charity work and they are actually producing things in Ontario.
Pros
They do a lot of extras for holidays etc for employees
Cons
Sometimes long hours but in this economy you need them

Long hours, bad management, unexpected layoffs
Seasonal Worker (Former Employee) - Beamsville, ON - 18 January 2020
It's a good summer job if you like hard work, however, you will work 13 hour shifts during peak time and management doesn't have orders and products organized for orders, so you usually have to stand around and get yelled at for something that is not your fault.
Management swears and screams to you while working on the line, again, for products not being pulled and available ahead of time, which is not your duty in the workplace to know or even do for specific orders. The people you work with daily are pretty great because they are working the same long, hard, sweaty hours as you, so you usually have the same work ethic and mindset.
However, so many of the workers there will slack off and expect others to pick up the slack and then you all get yelled at for it. They're so passive aggressive with addressing issues within the "order pick team" and instead of confronting the single people involved in issues, they reprimand everyone and nothing changes. Shipments are usually not on time, not enough carts available for orders because you have to walk around the whole greenhouse, hoping you can steal an open cart without being yelled at by someone who can't even understand what you're saying because of language barriers, in order to complete your job. It's a very unorganized greenhouse for sure and people's attitudes' at work are unbareable when you're stuck in 35 degree heat. Swearing, yelling, and name calling. I've worked in 3 greenhouses now and not only is this greenhouse unsafe with their practices (glass falling on the line from the ceiling and people goofing around on -

summer job
General Labourer (Former Employee) - Beamsville, ON - 28 March 2019
good summer job, hard work with lots of hours, not a lot of pay. the people that you work with are amazing and make it fun, with the culture alone it was enough to stay.

Physically and Mentally Tough
General Labourer, Supervisor (Former Employee) - Beamsville, ON - 19 June 2018
The majority of the people in the company are great to work with, however the job demands physical ability for long hours, lifting, pulling and moving significant amounts of product. In the spring time when the company is at peak, hours are long. In the spring and summer the temperature is high and often stagnant and humid.
Pros
Great Co-Workers
Cons
Long, Hot Hours in Peak Season

Great place to work!
Truck Driver (Former Employee) - Beamsville, ON - 12 August 2017
I was always respected by everyone there. Great atmosphere! Loved driving for them! Every summer they had a "driver's lunch" for all us drivers to show their appreciation for the work we did. I really thought that was awesome, And a really nice thing to do.
Pros
Great trucks, lots of trips all over Ontario
Cons
Downtown Toronto at rush hour

Dead End Job
Laborer (Former Employee) - Lincoln Ave, Beamsville, - 9 January 2017
-HR department is competent and friendly
- Individuals in Operations/Conveyor Belt Line need attitude adjustments especially if they intend to train new employees
-- Learn to conform here because it is a family owned business (Fake it till you make it)
- Be wary of Line Supervisor
- Recommended to wear masks; not the best breathing environment working as a laborer
Pros
Clean Break Room
Cons
Dirty breathing air during clean-up / No Over Time+No Time&half

Jobs at Freeman Herbs
Excellent staff, Long Hours, Very Little Pay!! and Inadequate Trucks!
Truck Driver (Former Employee) - Beamsville, ON - 3 September 2014
Loved the job and the long hours and long distances. Staff were very helpfull and friendly. the pay was very very low for the amount of work expected of drivers and the vehicles supplied were very underpowered and in poor condition! they were rental trucks and not meant for the work we were doing with them.
Also, it was a seasonal temporary position that lasted two months so potential for advancement in company isn't there and no job security.
Overall Great place to work!! But they need to pay what the drivers deserve if they expect great drivers and want us to return following season.
Cons
Inadequate equipment for job being performed
