Depends on the situation, but normally the hours are set because most operations will demand a specific time to start and finish according to the project`s schedule. I consider the long hours as a bonus since we are paid overtime and I see that as an awesome advantage. However, if you prefer fewer hours, you can always communicate with your supervisor and ask what they can do for you. Maybe there is a different operation that allows more flexible hours.
