Fun workplace

Indeed featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
Good workplace for kids still in high school looking to get a solid part time job. Clean and fun environment, coworkers are good to work with and management is very good

Not the greatest environment

Under paid and over worked, not a friendly environment full of drama. Lots of nice people employed but customers can be a pain as it is a discount store.

Jobs at Food Basics

See more jobs

Bad.

As a part timer you get over worked while full time ride the day by taking longer to get things done and talk half their day away. Store managers are all the same , come in and barely give direction on what they need done or do it and complain at the part timers/ certain staff if they talked for more then five seconds .

Pros

Make some new friends.

Cons

Harassment never gets solved, people end up leaving because of Store Manager.

First Job

Great first job experience, taught me to get out of my shell; greeting customers. I feel like this job was great for me in high school. The longest shift would be 8 hours. They worked around my availability and was close to home.

Horrible place to work

management definitely had favourites and said nasty things to their employees. They will basically make you work full time hours while only being on part time.

Easy and stress free environment

Fairly good place to work, especially for someone entering the workforce. Would not want to work there for too long because of inability to climb up to better positions.

You would be better off working anywhere else

Horrible company to work for. You are treated like dirt. They expect you to give 110% while giving you as little as possible. Do yourself a favour and work anywhere else.

Pros

Union benefits

Cons

Everything else

Good for learning, low pay

Food Basics is a good starting job to have in school. You will learn a lot, and if you want to go down certain pathways (supply chain, sales, etc.) you can get a good starting job here. The pay however, was always minimum for part time staff, no matter how much they liked you or how long you worked there. Overall good starting job for part time student, low pay though even for starter positions.

Pros

Flexible hours, good managers

Cons

Minimum pay

Neutral

its a lot of work and little training. Low hours and the managers are not always what you would expect. It might not be the ideal place to work at...

Horrible. Management in Bradford is terrible if you can’t work for personal reasons they fire you.

Reasons Food Basics Bradford is horrible.-If you can’t work 5/7 days as a PART TIMER they fire you. Same with if you can work all weekdays but not a single weekend they fire you.-People Cultures. If they have to go pray for their religion for to long they say “We’re sorry this isn’t working out we have to let you go”

Pros

Leaving.

Cons

Bad pay-Bad management-Barely any help.

Hard Work, decent pay

The work is a lot for what you're getting paid. But if you keep at it, the days go by quickly, there's always something to do, there is also a lot of opportunity to move up to management as well.

It's a job. student Grocer.

It's a job with a minimum wage salary. It's okay but no room to grow. You need to be prepared to work weekends. The staff is fun and the management was good.

Chill job

I worked as a cashier for a little over a year at Food Basics. The job itself was honestly not that bad, some days were really stressful, but other days were great.
