Productive Work
General Labourer (Former Employee) - Winnipeg, MB - 2 December 2019
A day in the workplace is safe, organized, and productive. It teaches how to be a safe, responsible team member, and carry out tasks and leadership. The hardest part of the job is being physically fit and the most enjoyable part is to see a well done job.

Fair salary and work training, poor job culture
General Labourer (Part-time) (Former Employee) - Calgary, AB - 25 April 2019
Pays really well compared to other jobs
Work days could be long, but the job isn't really hard, mostly it is physically demanding.
Bad management, but satisfactory training, salary and work-life balance.
Extremely poor job culture and the mindsets of workers.

Roofing Company
Labourer (Former Employee) - Dartmouth, NS - 18 March 2019
Typical day is from 630-7 AM till around 330-4 PM or later.
Learned how to build and tear down roofs.
Management was fine. Hands on but not overbearing.
Company culture was fine.
Hardest part of the job was the back breaking labour at times as well as personality clashes between workers as in some guys knew how to roof better than others etc.
Most enjoyable part of the job was the money you get at the end of a good week.
Pros
Good paycheck
Cons
Long brutal hours especially in winter/summer

A well managed large construction company with hard-working people
General Laborer in sheet metal department (Current Employee) - Work sites - 23 June 2018
I had been with Flynn for around 2 years as a general labor in the sheet team, started from completely 0-knowledge about it. Like every other companies that I had been with, what you feel really depends on who you work with there. In Flynn's construction sites, I had been working with some of the best guys that I had ever been with, also met some of the worst guys. It is totally understandable that a few of the co-workers can not be always peaceful and respectful. I usually tell my self to keep cool and polite when there is conflict or misunderstanding. This skill could be helpful to make anyone to go a long way.
To give fair comments to a big company who is running on construction field, I would focus on 4 things: salary, training, safety, management.
(1) Salary: their salary system, group insurance and beneficial are transparent and easy to understand. They paid in time weekly. Whenever there is an error, I speak to the forman and they correct it in the next paystub.
(2) They provide in-field training. I learn from other journeyman and forman. They also sent me to learn fall-protection and lift operation in class to get tickets.
(3) Like all other big companies, Flynn cares about safety, not only because the authorities require so, but also because it is essential to run huge and multiple projects over the North America. They supply abundant safety utilities and tools. They keep improving their safety assessment procedures even some of them seem ridiculous and unnecessary, but as you can see they do want to avoid any accident and injury.
(4) Management. -
Pros
Transparent salary system, useful training, excellent work protection, matural management team
Cons
travel to different work sites
