The long hours and changing goals make life work balance difficult to maintain. As a field technician it is 100% travel, which i enjoyed.

I enjoyed working with the field teams.

Maintenance of Turbines with a good team
Materials / Tooling Specialist (Contractor) (Former Employee) –  Tchad15 October 2018
What we do is basically is the maintenance of rotating and reciprocating equipment. And we also dwell on taking Safety and Quality serious, What I really enjoy in working there is the team spirit, learning from one another. The hardest part is during the rush hour when you need to attend to so many people trying to collect materials and tools for the job. The most enjoyable part is when the job is almost completed and the customer is satisfied with the extent of the job.
Pros
Free breakfast, lunch and dinner
Cons
short breaks

Field Representative (Current Employee) –  Bakersfield, CA3 October 2018
FieldCore is a great place to work if you're happy being out of town more than at home. During most of the year, you can be gone months at a time. You get the opportunity to travel nationwide and, on occasion, out of the country.

It's not a perfect company but the over time pay is very compelling. Benefits are actually very good, as well.
Pros
Per diem, benefits, lots of traveling
Cons
starting wage not great, slow seasons leaves you on the bench a lot

Mechanical Assistant (Current Employee) –  Tampa, FL14 September 2018
The on the job training is very helpful along with the training classes at the GE facilities. There seems to be a lack of work or too many employees. You cant work for a month then sit at home for 4 months.

Steam Turbine Mechanic (Current Employee) –  Tampa, FL23 August 2018
Great pay, good benefits, long hours. Great to work for when management is competent and the work is there. Not so good when work dries up and the buddy system kicks in.

Regional EHS Leader, North Africa (Current Employee) –  Doha16 July 2018
FieldCore is an interesting company to work at, it takes its culture from the parent company GE, This gives the company strong foundation then it has taken its own pathway to become a distinctive company to work at

Remote Planning and Scheduling
Project Controls Planner/Scheduler (Former Employee) –  Baton Rouge, LA22 June 2018
This was a very good job, but the work ran out. The pay was fair. I could use very little of my skills on projects that I was given. The projects didn't use progress curves or earn value charts.

Best Job I ever had
Materials Technician (Current Employee) –  Tampa, FL13 May 2018
Field Technician. Learned a lot, was paid very well. Good benefits
Workplace culture is safety first, and the atmosphere at most of the job sites is relaxed and lots of laughs, typical of construction.
Most employees are dedicated to their work. Every job site, and employees are different. You work with different teams each project. You travel all over the US, and to other countries when needed.
You get a full per-diem seven days a week for living expenses as well as paid by the hour.
Pros
Paid well, Safe workplace, room to advance, every jobsite is different
Cons
You are away from home for months at a time, No given time on when you go back to work, You do go on layoffs, Hard to plan vacations, or anything outside of work because you never know when you will be called back to work, No paid time off or vacations.

Work Life Balance
Resource Manager (Current Employee) –  Houston, TX30 April 2018
The work/life balance is non existent. Expectations of 24/7 are high which intrudes on family life. THe expectation to drop what you are doing at anytime brings the moral down of my current group. While we enjoy working together all are looking to move out of the position. Upper management continuously focuses on other groups which leaves the resource team covering the responsibilities of other groups quite often.

Fun job but lay off too much
Windtower Technician (Current Employee) –  Amarillo, TX10 April 2018
Laid off after month of work. Can’t get new resource managers to respond to phone calls or emails. Very frustrating to see a future in this company. Tried to lateral move but no response from that either.
Pros
Truck phone laptop
Cons
No work

Get hired, collect unemployment
Technician (Current Employee) –  Tampa, FL24 March 2018
They hire more people than they need and then you are left without work until another project is available. Many managers but there is a serious lack of communication. Could be contacted by three managers about the same thing. No advancement opportunities unless you know someone regardless of experience or education. They are a part of GE but you are technically a temp, according to unemployment benefits. No paid time off, no sick time. The travel department is the best to deal with. Maybe other benefits are good. Long assignments and you won't be placed near your home state. Be ready to file state income taxes in each state you worked in.
Pros
travel department gets things done quickly
Cons
Not enough work for all they hired
