Fun, culturally stimulating workplace
Volunteer (Former Employee) –  Winnipeg, MB8 May 2015
We learned how to work as a team and were given the chance to improve our french communication skills. Also, we learned the importance of flexibility and cross-training. Without those two things, the festival would not be as successful as it is annually.

A typical day of volunteering can involve anything from scanning tickets at the entrances, painting faces at the arts and crafts tent, watching over camp fires or pushing kids down toboggan slides. No matter what it involves, the experience is always a positive one that is tempting to repeat the year after! Hence all of the seasoned volunteers the festival has in their roster!

The hardest part of the job is probably bearing the cold Winnipeg winter weather, but you are given breaks and if you come prepared with tons of layers, it's usually okay.
Pros
free food, free drinks, free volunteer souvenirs, multiple breaks
Cons
cold weather

Laborious work in the freezing cold
Park Crew Labourer (Former Employee) –  Fort Gibraltar8 April 2015
Plenty of heavy lifting, hauling, transporting equipment with trailers, loading/unloading, operating heavy machinery and carpentry. Played an important role keeping everything running smoothly during the festival. Learned to setup and teardown large tents. Management was great when communication was open and organized. A wide mix of co-workers, some quite cooperative and knowledgeable.
Pros
Meeting amazing people from all around the world.
Cons
Co-workers with exhausting attitudes.
