Industrial setting. Dyanamic colleagues

Indeed featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
Wasn’t convinced about working in an industrial setting after university, but the strength of this company really is the people. Each store is its own independent unit and working in such a small but dynamic team is really fun.

Pros

As a part time employee, no Nights or weekends! Full time employees get great benefits and competitive pay.

Cons

Somewhat outdated views towards technology.

Not a good place to work

If you ask for a raise they either tell you come back at the end of the quarter or that there is a hiring freeze. If you want to make mediocre money this is the job for you. If you want to be able to say you're proud of your employer, don't apply here.

Pros

Paid lunches, no one really cares.

Cons

Can be hard work, no room for advancment.

No culture and always part-time so no benefits

No culture and always part-time so no benefits, they also provide little relevant training and will not sponsor most education opportunities. Management is a clique that very few are allowed into.

Not a good place to work.

The pay does not match the work you have to do. The commission matrix is such that you will work harder year after year to make less. Commission is paid primarily on growth (new accounts only) but all the existing customer sales pay out much less yet there is still a lot of selling and account managing to be done to maintain your client base. Overall, stock at the store level is very low and cannot accommodate emergency client orders. They also make you do a 5 week brainwashing training in Winona MN at their HQ with little to no allowance if you are going to be a GM. They don't offer the proper tools and equipment to safely do your job. Very cheap company. Not worth it at all.

Pros

None

Cons

Too many to list.

Great company for students

If you are a student working part time, this is a great company to work for. Really flexible hours and you are paid a fair salary. The young team members of this company bring good and new ideas. There is a mix between physical and office work, so you are not sit all day. Overall I would give 4/5

Pros

Horaire lundi au vendredi de jour

Cons

Esprit d'équipe, gestion du personnel, avantages sociaux, travail physique, gestionnaires malhonnêtes

Good entry level

If you dont have any experience, this job is a good one, you will gain knowledge and experience in the field rapidly. You weirdly have to buy the work clothes (not paid back), if you work full time you are working 7:30-5:00 which is more than 40 hours a week (no overtime paid). Make sure to negotiate before signing anything or else you will be stuck with those hours. .You can climb the rank of the company with time and achieved way better position if you show results and hard work. This job is really good for not requiring any type of education or degree, the salary aren’t better than competitors but not bad (you can ask for raises)

Pros

Compagny truck, good commission with performance, higher role are accessible within 2-3 years

Cons

More than 40 hours (if full time), have to pay for work gear, lower wage than average in the industry, high pressure, Canadian have a really hard time to deal with accountability team in US for a pregnancy, or other emergency.

Just ok

very normal, low progress, mostly like a retail job, depends on the branch manager that how is your experience, NO SPECIAL SKILLS OR EDUCATION NEEDED for this job. The managers usually just have the experience and no management skills

Pros

proper salary compare to the job and skills needed

Cons

Weak management skills, slow environment

Negative experience

Very negative experience. Cut throat and full of lies. If you need a job for the sake of having a job they arw flexible but the pay is bad and no benefits. Management only cares about themselves and will tell you what you want to hear while takong advantage of you and your health. Dont stay for long and if you wish to move up in the company, then swallow your morals

Pros

Flexible

Cons

Everything esle

Corporate Greed

Corporate greed at its worst sums up fastenal. They don't care about their employees, only executive bonuses and shareholders. Do not expect a raise, ever. You have to fight for every dime at this place. The hours are long and they expect you to work unpaid overtime. The salary is mediocre and the days are long. Just hope for good coworkers to get you through the day.

Pros

No weekends

Cons

Everything else

Great company but needs a few tweaks.

I really enjoyed the flexibility they offered with scheduling. Proper training and they always have courses you can take to become better at your job and more knowledgeable. Management was great. I had to leave because they cut hours before and after Christmas. So if you work for them make sure you have money set aside for December and January. This is the only company I know makes itnharder on staff to get by during chrostmas

No breaks or lunches. You are an employee number easily replaced.

Constantly under staffed as they will only hire part time and usually students. Management is abrasive with very little empathy. Did not take more then 3-4 lunches/ breaks in a 3 year period. Very hard to balance work/home life. Pay is well below the industry average. They do tend to promote from within but have a very fast employee turn over.

Mean and aggressive to their employees

They are mean to their employees. They also wont follow the Ontario disability act. They will purposely make you work over 45 hours a week but not bumb you up to fulltime so they wont have to pay out benefits

Pros

Weekends off

Cons

Everything

Good place to work

Salary is fair, challenging, managers are awesome, you get benefits if you’re full time, as a part time some bonuses. Will be more successful if you are willing to locate, good company to over all.

Good place

It is overall a good place to work, however it is not for everyone. It is a challenging environment. In order to get good salary you need to work very hard and do overtime. A standard week is 45 hours.

Work ,work work good for high school graduate and drop out and those not intending to go to university.

Poor structure and greedy gm and bm . No commission have what you to work and drop dead. Run away if you can . No overtime once you are about exceeding 20 or 30 hours per week of part-time they will find a way out themselves.

Unhealthy and stressful environment to work in. Terrible management. You will get fired for sticking up for yourself.

I do not recommend anyone working here. You will get screwed over by management. Do not share your personal life as it will be used against you when you get fired.

Pros

None that come to mind

Cons

If you get stuck in the shop, say goodbye to lunch breaks all together. Short staffed all the time

The people are good, the company not so much

When I first started I got put into a mess of a store. A new young GM was coming in, old GM out, and longest time running employee passed away. I got pushed to perform tasks and duties not covered by my job title. I was over worked and under paid without benefits. Working 40hours a week with only PT wage, no benefits and no protection. I was then promoted to FT but it’s been 6months and no sight of benefits. Got a $1 raise since then, but typically working long, dragging hours, without getting paid for overtime because of the cheapness of the company. They expect us to reach for the stars but they tie our hands behind our back. With a PT support staff now that has quit, and another FT salesperson quitting, they cut back the hours on everyone else which adds more pressure and stress on everyone. They paint your future to be very dark, hence the high turnover. If they stop overworking and severely underpaying their employees, then they might have a reason to stay.

Pros

Good coworkers

Cons

Overworked and underpaid

Worst Place to work on 190st and 111ave location

Bad General Manager. Play head games with staff. The general manager encourages other staff to play along with his games. The general manager picks on people who he thinks is below him or don't give him the attention he is looking for.

Pros

Good salary when FT with bonuses

Cons

The GM likes to harass his staff

Poor pay

For a beginner its okay, but for long term it will not be a right choice if you are thinking of a well paid job and you cant expect good pay unless you are super efficient

No

Office staff have no clue as to MTO LAWS the 3 in charge of the drivers are clueless and not qualified to run logistics 2 failed truck drivers and a young women who is very nice as long as she gets her way .Job pays well if you can get your run done in shorter time but not paid overtime when things like weather go side ways Pay structure is very messed up good luck figuring it out They claim big yearly salary but it doesn't work out at the end of the year Overall the Job is not bad but middle management and driver supervisors are un qualified and tell you what you want to hear to get their product out

Pros

Pay equipment

Cons

Management..pay structure confusing and not accurate
