Child Protection Worker (Former Employee) –  Niagara, ON7 March 2019
This is a challenging place to work. Heavy case load and very big emphasis on accountability. I found it to be mostly clerical work with very little social work being done as your a running around so much there is no time.

This is a great job if you are wired for this. Great pay, great benefits and vacation, however the job can be very stressful. There is a lot of turnover of employees as well, so the culture is generally one if stressed out social workers trying to cope as best they can. Some people could thrive in this environment, and some can’t.
Pros
Extensive training, Good pay, Good vacation. Good benefits. You will learn a lot!
Cons
Long hours. Heavy work load. Heavy case load. Stress. Pressure. Vicarious Trauma.

Challenging.
Child Protection Worker (Former Employee) –  Niagara, ON19 March 2018
Most people hired don't stay long, usually leaving on their own accord. If you are willing to stick it out, there is decent job security. The benefits and vacation is also great. However, Child Protection is high stress and there is little support. There is considerable training, however, I found once on the job, I had little support, my manager was unavailable for support and consultation, and my workload was unmanageable.

For some, this is a job that will give experience and learning in the field that will be valuable to their career. Some people do make it their life long career.
Pros
