Good as a company and property but pathetic top management of kitchen department of the property.
Breakfast Cook (Former Employee) –  Jasper, AB22 January 2019
So I started the journey at Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge known as JPL as a General Cook in 2017.

Fairmont as a company and also JPL as a property takes good care of their employees. The accommodation and extra curricular facilities provided by property are good. The benefits provided by the company is good.

Here comes the Hardest part.
I worked in the kitchen department and my recommendation to all is that please do not join this property if you want to pursue kitchen.
The top management starting from some of the CDP's to the SOUS CHEFS and OFCOURSE THEIR LEADERS are completely PATHETIC, UNSYMPATHETIC, and to some extent RACIST.

Yes my Journey was short(5 months) with them and the credits go to ALL THE CHEFS there.

Junior Server (Former Employee) –  Jasper, AB16 January 2019
You get great discounts on rooms at all fairmont properties and complementary upgrades. Management is very by the book and not always flexible. They expect so much out of you but very little reward or recognition maybe given

Kitchen Helper (Former Employee) –  Alberta30 August 2018
The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge is a fantastic place to live and work. The only issue with this job and resort work like it is that the work/life balance can be difficult for some, creating an interesting and for the most part enjoyable work experience where you become close friends with many of the staff members.
Pros
Great Benefits
Cons
Long hours

Salary too low compared to best western & sawridge
Fairmont room attendant (Current Employee) –  Alberta8 July 2018
Fairmont room attendant makes 14 something an hour and a room attendant at best western & sawridge makes 18 starting. Fairmonts are bigger, popular, expensive $$$$ and beautiful. So why are they still paying room attendants 14 something. Get with the times and update! This is a hard demanding job. These workers deserve more than 14 an hour. If the best western & sawridge can do it, so can they. ✌🏻
Pros
Beautiful locations/surroundings
Cons

Gorgeous work place, with management that sets you up for success
ASSISTANT GUEST SERVICE MANAGER (Former Employee) –  Jasper, AB4 June 2018
If you're a motivated and reliable worker that enjoys the challenge of working from the ground-up, this property is for you. JPL provides you with the skills, training, and opportunity to succeed and advance vertically within the company. Take the time to get to know the management and learn as much as possible. The turn-over for staff is very high here but this can be seen as an area of opportunity if you're wanting to stay for longer than a summer.

The property is beautiful and on-sight living accommodations is a definite plus. The only thing that you need to remember is that you live where you work, and you work where you live so there's a fine line between work life and personal life.
Pros
beautiful workplace, strong management team, on-sight living accommodations
Cons
long hours, high staff turnover

Great place to work
Assistant Manager of the Emerald Lounge (Former Employee) –  Jasper, AB3 May 2018
You have every chance to move up within the organizations, they offer lots of training during your shift or in a class room setting. It truly feels like a family oriented environment, within your department you work in or within the hotel itself. The management I had worked with are trusting, honest, willing to listen about your concerns, open minded, and there door is always open.

I loved how you could just walk into work in the morning, the fresh air and the stunning views from every way you look. If you enjoy golfing, mountain biking, hiking or back country camping this place is the right move for you. Take a chance and enjoy your time while you are here.

Food and Beverage Server (Current Employee) –  Jasper, AB4 March 2018
I enjoy working at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge. Got the change to network and met many people across the world, and had some great co- workers and staff. It was more like a family. A true care for the employees, compensation is great and the management is very attentive to their employees and customer service. Lot of benefits like paid time off, discounts on hotel stays, flexible scheduling, certified first aid training, wine and mixology training.

Housekeeper (Former Employee) –  Jasper, AB28 February 2018
Great place to work. As a housekeeper I spent a lot of time outside. It was great. All the rooms are like cabins so they aren't connected by being inside the same building, as usual hotels are.

Great place to work if you are relocating to Alberta as I did. You will find them an equal opportunity employer who takes corporate culture and employee well-being seriously. Provides an opportunity to improve your life and make a great living. Staff accommodation allows for easy access to workplace. Overall a great choice whatever stage you are in your career.

Not a nice place to work
Housekeeping Houseman (Former Employee) –  Jasper, AB26 June 2017
It was not a nice place to work at all. Met some really nice people but the management made everyone's lives almost unbearable during our work hours. The amount of time wasted trying to make them happy instead of doing what's best for the company was not something I looked forward too every morning.
Pros
Met the love of my life there.
Cons
Poor management. Poor living conditions. Unstable work environment. More available upon request

Room Attendant/Housekeeping (Former Employee) –  Jasper, AB13 May 2017
I learned very quickly that despite their proclaiming that, "We Are Family," they treat you quite the opposite. Stay in Union positions, that's the only way to feel that you have job security.
Pros
Cheap Accommodation
Cons
Long Hours, No Gratitude
