Food and Beverage department has a sink or swim management tactic and can be stressful at the start, but once you get the hang of your job, it can be enjoyable, but very robotic.
I learned a lot in my experience in Jasper, working for the Fairmont. A typical day would be getting my float from the safe, clocking in. Checking in with last cashier to find out how the shift went previously. I would compile the amenities and get staff to deliver them. By about this time it was around dinner time, which was our busy time. We would recieve calls from the guest and place their orders, all while finishing up other amenities and setting up for parties, and dealing with the liquor for the hotel. We barely had management to help us or even be around us. Our coworkers helped us get through the busy times. The hardest part of the job was the multitasking on multiple times, but the most enjoyable was dealing with the guests!
