The best company I have worked for so far.
4th Year Electrical Apprentice (Former Employee) –  Edmonton, AB3 June 2019
All of the people at ESC are friendly and helpful. The work was typical of an electric controls company. I've learned a lot about the controls portion of HVAC while working here. It really felt like a family which is why I was dissappointed to be laid off due to lack of work.
Pros
A lot of free or cheap company events and activities, Several people to help your advancement in the company and in your apprenticeship.
Cons
As a smaller company, they can run low on work during a recession

Poor Managment
Electrician (Former Employee) –  Calgary, AB6 April 2019
This company suffers from the top management right down. Lazy people who do nothing are protected and promoted. People like me who work hard get laid off. If you are not part of the core or friends with the top people you are nothing. Zero training. Constant backstabbing. People constantly screwing around doing nothing. No Raises. Office staff are always screwing around. Would not recommend this company to anyone.

Tough to start out, better down the road
Application Technologist (Current Employee) –  Edmonton, AB12 March 2019
Can be a tough place to start out at, as they have training programs for their products, but a lot of what you need to know to execute a job is learned by doing. Once you are established in your role you do feel valued and that you can be an asset for the company. The management works hard to ensure that projects are executed well, and they also coordinate company events to allow people across the company to interact and get to know each other while having fun.
Pros
Positive environment among similar working groups
Cons
Not great training for newer employees

Worst Group of petty bullies
Electrician Apprentice (Former Employee) –  Alberta18 January 2019
Foremen, doing the bare minimum as they make it look like they are affectingly managing while relentlessly criticizing employees
in an unprofessional manner to the point every day they will be bullied to some degree and often behind their backs or alone leaving for a future surprises if they haven't already stood up for themselves.

Journeymen who are friends with foremen who are friends with project managers.
who all seem to have the same greasiness about them and coincidental seem to all know each other..
As they ALL Unfairly targeting anyone!!

When the time comes for you explain why something happen,, if it ends with pointing out their inability to affectingly manage which is why things consistently need be moved or re-done
You will understand.

That wouldn't be a problem but as anyone can guess, the foremen is constantly blaming the lack of progress on the employees working ability to the project manager., never mentioning more often then not the foreman is often off with the journeyman's, doing something completely unrelated to work.
or the journeyman is doing nothing or off with other journeyman.

Employees who have been there long enough, all seem to know the problem is management but know the Culture that is this company now has promoted the real issues leaving many good skilled people
unemployed after being poorly treated.

Foremen/journeymen's who spend more time gossiping during their work day, have got good at covering their selfs to project managers.
Pm's who don't care to find out what is really going on at their sites or never do
more... anything meaningful because they are all long time friends or had been a worse foremen before then became project manager..

when millennial become managers.

Consist lack of meaningful direction or usable information is usually lost or given with hostility and arrogance or not at all.
If ANYTHING goes wrong management will find a way to blame you, especially if its because of their lack of passing off information.
Information which all Journeymen there call "job security"
Micromanaged in the, do as your told mentality, as in like in most cases, they are clueless till much later as something gets missed,
But because you did as you where told, something needs to changed and its your fault.

Unprofessional
Electrical Apprentice (Former Employee) –  Calgary, AB17 December 2018
The Calgary branch has been mismanaged for a few years, and there have been no real positive changes that are being made.
Prepare to work in a place where the left hand has no clue what the right is doing.
Superiors constantly use their team members as scapegoats, meanwhile you'll be told your doing good but should show more "initiative".
Furthermore, progress reports do not exist, continued demands of training always seemed to fall on deaf ears, but there's time for board games every week?
Save yourself the headache and don't expect to learn much at this company, they just want a career Second year electrician.
Pros
Some good people...
Cons
Bad work environment, very Anglo-centric, no training provided whatsoever

ESC is a great company to work with. Everyone is enjoyable to work around and very understanding. As an apprentice you learn everything you need to know to further your knowledge in the trade.

Electrical Apprentice (Former Employee) –  Vancouver, BC6 November 2018
Working with ESC gave me a great opportunity to explore a new avenue in the Electrical trade. Before I had simply done commercial and residential, but working here let me explore what the side of controls looks like.

Electrician (Former Employee) –  Calgary, AB26 October 2018
This is a smaller, Newer company that still has time to grow. Has room for improvement. Office and safety staff need the most improving. Could be a great place to work and grow, if the sites were ran better as well.

Good benefits but never train
Service Dispatcher (Current Employee) –  Edmonton, AB18 April 2018
I love this company but they just set you up for failure, they don’t train you they just ask you to do a task and expect you to know how no matter how hard and when you don’t do it their way they get extremely upset. The managers do not talk between each other, sales manager Talks down to anyone he feels is lesser and openly shows his contempt for everyone and how he is better. They have amazing benefits and do some events for the employees but not worth it in the end

Portfolio management (Current Employee) –  Surrey, BC5 April 2018
Was lead to believe it was a team environment. Not the case. Management doesn't communicate with each other and or with staff effectively. Some sales battle over clients and commissions.
