I enjoyed my time at this company. The work was challenging yet fulfilling. There were many opportunities for training and development. Overall a good culture.

EQB is a workplace that feels like a family. Everyone knows each other and everyone care about each other about both their jobs and their casual life.

Business Development Manager (Former Employee) –  Montréal, QC9 January 2019
So so company. Micro management. Recent changes may have improved this though with addition of new products. However I think the old management is still there. I may have a chip on my shoulder since they let me go with no reason after a good annual review.
Pros
Decent benefits
Cons
Lower than undustry salary

Great company, relaxed environment and chill culture
Residential Mortgage Officer (Current Employee) –  downtown toronto18 October 2018
The company itself is great to work with and there is no micro management although the role itself is very stressful and work load is overwhelming and not spread evenly amongst staff members. If you're shown to handle a lot on your plate they take advantage rather than help to remove work load. Management can also be selfish and restrict you from moving up if you're essential to the team. It sucks because the company itself is great, it just depends on who your manager is.

Great place to learn about the mortgage industry
Renewals Intern (Former Employee) –  Toronto, ON20 August 2018
Enjoyed learning about mortgages and the B-lending industry in financial services. Management is overall good, but depends on your own department. Workplace culture is quite relaxed and fun, but hard work is required at times.

Just a job
IT PROFESSIONAL (Current Employee) –  Toronto, ON5 November 2017
Just another bank job. No different than other banks. Smaller and a bit more agile. It is next to the subway stop but in the middle of the town. The building is ok

Management not helpful. Lack of knowledge on leading direct reports.
Customer Service Manager (Former Employee) –  Toronto, ON20 September 2017
Highly recommended leadership courses.
Working at Equitable Bank there is a lack of management. There isn't a fair workload. VP needs to be more knowledgeable about the staff.
There is a lack of communication with staff. There is no set expectations and a lack of coaching.
Pros
Friendly staff
Cons
long hours

Equitable was in no place the company I should have wound up at, for for a company for which I was in no way intended, I couldn't have hoped for a more supportive and positive environment.

Family oriented and fun work place with great benefits
Residential Mortgage Officer (Current Employee) –  Calgary, AB6 September 2014
Equitable's bank culture and workplace environment surely are their strengths. They are a family oriented company that really understands your needs if you have to attend to family emergencies.
The workplace environment is fun and the managers make you feel at home. Their doors are always opened and they are always available for your. We have a lot of team building events and great parties!
On the other hand, the work load is pretty heavy and can be overwhelming at some times while the salary is on the lowest side. They rarely, if ever, approve overtime and, since you work very independently, managers do not seem to know or care if you are overloaded with things to do.
Pros
Fun work environment, benefits package, company culture.
Cons
Salary. Work load.
