Disappointed experience
Service Consultant (Former Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 27 September 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedPlease apply for any position except for the Contact Center, especially RRO or HAT (Encor by EPCOR). Pay is decent for the job, but also the work is very stressful and not worth the hassle at all. You definitely will go crazy if you work more than 30 hours/week, and you are the lowest minions of this company. I cried 5 times within 2 months when I first started on the floor, and sometimes I still break down and cry in the morning before going to work. Up until now I have been feeling like I'd rather to jump off from their building than going to the queue, so I had to send in the resignation letter to release myself from this nightmare. The queue has been extremely crazy this year due to the ridiculous raise in regulated electricity rate so you will get a lot more of angry customers, and the management is such a very selfish joke, well, at least my manager and my team lead are both kind of new to their positions so I am not sure if the others are better. Upper management will act like they care about agents but in fact they do not appreciate you at all. Everything is about business; you will get constant unnecessary stress from them about your STAT report. Do not believe what they tell you about as long as you are doing your best because your report is the most important thing. They will remind you that they understand it is a difficult time for us, encourage agents to take time with customer and suggest you to take mindful moments between each call just to swipe away our frustration when we bring it up, but they calculate every single minute in the average handle time report, -
Pros
Pay rate, benefits
Cons
selfish management, no humanity, stressful

Insights into EPCOR
What people like
- Fair pay for job
Areas for improvement
- Sense of belonging
- Trust in colleagues
- Support from manager
The job was mostly being automated
Meter Installer 1 (Former Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 21 November 2018
There was typical politics. Very little support from the foreman. As a temp there is no benefits. Becoming permanent can take years so you could end up with zero benefits and pay increases for a very long time.

Hire temp workers to do everything at low pay
Utility Worke. Temp (Former Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 10 April 2018
Horribly managed crews. Extremely disorganized. Low pay with promises of full time employment...most temporary workers have to put in 4-8 years before getting full time work. Temp workers still pay union dues but are not able to collect benefits. Short work days...scarce overtime and low pay for potentially dangerous work
Pros
Free PPE and good training courses, in town work
Cons
Low pay, short days, rain days, terrible lazy management

Safe company to work for
Lead Hand and Crew Supervisor (Former Employee) - North Edmonton, AB - 9 January 2018
A very safety oriented company. Employees are provided sufficient training to keep sites safe. There are chances to move up within the company, and if you ask generally extra training for advancement will be provided.
Pros
Comfortable pay and benefits
Cons
Job culture within the construction workers is not the best

Clock watching Negative Company
Labourer (Current Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 23 August 2017
This company focuses only on negative aspects. Never any positive recognition or feedback. If you want a place where you feel like your back in high school, then this is it. Bullying happening all around you. No matter how hard you work you can't get past the favourites in the company regardless if you have more seniority or work your butt off Would not recommend this company if my life depended upon it.
Pros
Good benefits
Cons
Very negative Atmosphere

Pros
Great work/life balance
Cons
Union salaries for non-management positions

Jobs at EPCOR
no money
driver for utilities (Former Employee) - Nisku, AB - 12 June 2017
very hard to get on permanent and when you do your reward is a salary of $3500-$4000 a month. Super slack and you really don't have to be very smart to work there
