Very strong safety first culture. Must be good at documentation, must follow workplace hierarchy. Great pay, great benefits, good food at Christmas party, pay for your cab ride home.

Memorable. They expect a lot but you are also rewarded and recognized for your hard work.

What is the best part of working at the company? They are genuinely concerned with employee health and safety as it is taken very seriously. They also promote employee engagement, they will help you move toward whatever career ambitions you have, great pay and excellent benefits. The only downside side I feel is sometimes you can feel expendable (a small guy working in a large corporation). I worked for the company for 3 years trying to get on permanent full time but they had other plans at the local worksite first before filling permanent. I had to eventually moved on so I could support my family. What is the most stressful part about working at the company?Epcor pays well and provides excellent benefits but they also set high expectations of their employees. They set the bar high but you are rewarded for your hard work. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? They foster a team environment with heavy emphasis on health and safety, and employee production. You are held accountable for your mistakes. What is a typical day like for you at the company?Show up for work in a secure area (don't forget your employee work badge so you can scan in!), work hard, they provide coffee machines and a clean, safe workplace. They provide a lot for emoyees but also expect at lot from you. Sometimes you miss breaks on those busy days.

The work culture is friendly, inclusive and collaborative. You really feel like you are part of a team. And it’s a professional and respectful place to work.

Great company to work for

Epcor focuses a lot on mental well being and supporting their employees. There is great communication between teams, and from management. I find the culture open and playful, where you can be yourself and have fun, while maintaining respect for one another.

Would definitely recommend

My typical day at work starts with morning stretches, start of day maintenance tasks, projects, mid-day maintenance tasks. Sometimes, there are meetings and trainings within the week. Management is flexible and considerate of personal life. Workplace culture is collaborative, safety-focused and an emphasis on employee health (in all aspects)

Pros

High-salary compared to competition due to union, flex-based benefits allows customization based on personal needs, wellness account, personal development account (formal courses paid by EPCOR), donation to charity of choice if volunteering more than 30 hours, morning stretches, free parking, delicious coffee and tea choices, gym and shower on site, work-life balance

Cons

Job tenure happens after 10 years

Mgrs & foreman -just not right fit!

I was there 2000 & the foreman were useless! I was in sales would send emails & they wouldn't reply. Even some mgrs. were over there head in their job position-didn't deserve the title was just given it. Apparently some foreman & mgrs today In 2019 are still useless! The union culture for some is a poison & some love that type of culture. Really good benefits, once your in your in even if not a good worker.

Should have been a nice place

In the beginning all was great. However, supervisor and manager kept changing expectations and goals. They seemed supportive but in the end were really not. You might be luckier in a different department.

Watch your back ...

Terrible managers ... highly incompetent and will not hesitate to throw you under the bus for failures that are their responsibility. Stressful work environment. Lack of transparency. People get fired all the time. I would not work here again -- despite there being good people/co-workers and good work-life balance opportunities. Not worth the mental stress of dealing with bad managers, a complicit HR department and a culture that revolves around backstabbing others to get ahead. Just sad that good people who work hard get treated so badly ... avoid!

Great if you keep your mouth shut

If you want a job where you just come in, do what you're told, take your pay and go home then this is it. It's the blind leading the blind and the attitude that if employees get paid enough they will put up with anything. Some are okay with that. I was not. You get told to take sick days and care for yourself but then your sick days don't get supported even when you hand over the most detailed of personal medical information. The work culture gets so toxic and people get cherry picked for promtions while others work so hard to get recognized then told they are too good at their current role to be considered for a promotion.

If I wasn't moving I would stay there until I retire

This has been the best experience of my professional career. Management culture is great, they care about us as people and employees. Managers are embedded into the teams and will support you if you need help. We work with new tools, we have access to MSDN, everything you could want, we get it. Project management is not quite agile but they're making progress. The software we build gets used by people everyday and we interact with the users providing updates year after year. It's so nice to actually see something you built get used.. I would work here again 100%

Work Environment

The work environment/culture at EPCOR is excellent. EPCOR offers in-house courses where a person can enhance their knowledge. However, there are people in "management" where I shake my head as I don't and cannot comprehend how these people are in management when some of the subordinates know more.

Pros

Workplace culture

Cons

Parking costs

The job was mostly being automated

There was typical politics. Very little support from the foreman. As a temp there is no benefits. Becoming permanent can take years so you could end up with zero benefits and pay increases for a very long time.

Brutal management

Absolutely brutal management. They will throw anyone under the bus. Very little training, nothing is documented, lack of leadership, no team spirit.

Pros

Nice location downtown

Cons

Good crew to work with

The crew I am working with is hard work and dedicated to quality work and to bond together as a team. Training is available to all field workers at no cost to the worker.

Safe company to work for

A very safety oriented company. Employees are provided sufficient training to keep sites safe. There are chances to move up within the company, and if you ask generally extra training for advancement will be provided.

Pros

Comfortable pay and benefits

Cons

Job culture within the construction workers is not the best

Good people

Great people to work with. The company provided all of the tools to help you complete the job. The compensation was good as well as the benefits. The hardest part of the job was irate customers.

Great stable company that provides great benefits, opportunities for growth and advancement, and pays great

Best job I ever had. The people are great, the company is great, lots of perks to the job, and your always learning. The company supports personal growth and development and provides all the resources needed to obtain the needed tickets and training for the job, as well as gives every employee an allowance for after hours education. As an operator, I would recommend this company, and say that an operator position here is the cat's a** it's the real macoy. I could go on for a lot longer about the work, the management, the company's growth projects and plans, the opportunities for growth, the opportunities for advancement, the competitive pay scale, but I'll leave that to you to find out for yourself when you have an interview.

Pros

Everything

Cons

They aren't in eastern Canada- yet. But they will be
