Nepotism prevails all else.

The only way to get a job or move up in this company is by knowing someone. And if you don't, you won't get anywhere. Hard work means nothing to them.

Cons

Management

Down goes the ship

Management is non existent. Project management is sub par to say the least. Very disorganized out in the field. No accountability at all. You can work as much OT as you want as it never gets denied. Upper management has no idea what goes on in the field.

Pros

Paid very well

Cons

No future with company

Nice place to work. Good pay.

Great benefits, good people to work with. However the union structure protects lazy coworkers in many departments. Management couldn't manage their way out of a cardboard box constantly changing crew structures in an attempt to streamline what, I do not know. The best equipment and tools and great home work life balance. I'd go back and work there if I could.

Pros

Equipment, fair pay, union, worklife balance.

Cons

Poor performance by many, union, seniority system, they do not fight to keep good people.

Worked with a good bunch of guys

Pretty hard to get on with EPCOR Utilities. Depending on where you are placed, you could be pigeonholed with no opportunity to advance. Nepotism is evident everywhere. People with multiple DO NOT REHIRE recommendations are hired over other competent employees.

summary

If you are a permanent worker, this job is great, good benefits, financial stability. working as a temp is good if you are young, downfall is no benefits or vacation time, pay is very good.

Hire temp workers to do everything at low pay

Horribly managed crews. Extremely disorganized. Low pay with promises of full time employment...most temporary workers have to put in 4-8 years before getting full time work. Temp workers still pay union dues but are not able to collect benefits. Short work days...scarce overtime and low pay for potentially dangerous work

Pros

Free PPE and good training courses, in town work

Cons

Low pay, short days, rain days, terrible lazy management

Good crew to work with

The crew I am working with is hard work and dedicated to quality work and to bond together as a team. Training is available to all field workers at no cost to the worker.

Great Utility company

Overall it is one of the best jobs I have ever had. Great pay and great home/work balance. Lots of overtime if you want and some good guys to work with. Reasonable hours and good training.

Pros

Pay, Benefits, home every night, training.

Cons

Management's lack of focus or regarding of employee opinion.

no money

very hard to get on permanent and when you do your reward is a salary of $3500-$4000 a month. Super slack and you really don't have to be very smart to work there

not fare

I was bullied severely and then not hired back due to bringing it up to management and standing up for myself. so when I went to HR and didn't believe me and refused to look into it.

Pros

money

Cons
