The Waterloo lactation has a lot to offer. Split shifts where it is preferred you do not leave the premise but instead sit around for free from anywhere from 20 minutes to 6 hours depending on how they feel that day, a core group that works there that will do nothing but pretend to be everyone's friends while trying to screw people over out of boredom and so they can go back to complaining about how no one stays.
They may also offer you one job but give you a different one as I have seen before.
Kitchen quality is sub par, equipment is shotty, lacking of safety stuff, and man its gross hygiene wise with only 2 people caring and a few pretending to care when the chef is around.
Speaking of the chef and sous chefs, prepare yourself for needless screaming, throwing of stuff, belittling and blaming random people for random and often inconsequential things you had nothing to do with. Remember, core group can throw anything out, burn or ruin any amout of expensive ingredients, have over the top staff meals, break stuff, take for ever to do something, or harass employees, but if you have been there for a year or less if you send out an appetizer 30 seconds later than anticipated then might as well quit there and then.
Also side note, competitive tip out is not a thing. Its just buzz words, most any other restaurant offers the same or more. Sous chefs make what entry line cooks make at a lot of places.
Appetizer, grill, and oven cooks make the same as the dishwashers.
Free food that isnt that special compared to pretty much any other restaurant
