Lead Facilitator (Former Employee) –  Winnipeg, MB10 June 2017
A Board runs this centre, which is really needed. They make it extremely difficult to attain resources and information on ways to enhance the centre. You spend most of your time scrambling to make sure your program makes sense and is working, only to get cut off early due to lack of funds. I did really enjoy working with children and making a program for them, but it fell apart when we weren't eligible for more money or grants.
Pros
Happy Children
Cons
Long Hours, low pay

administrative assistant (Former Employee) –  Winnipeg, MB4 November 2015
My favorite part of my time while at ECRC were serving the drop in clients and seeing them and learning from them on a daily basis. I also enjoyed working at Community events such as breakfast with Santa, And take pride Elmwood Canada Day celebration held every June. My duties included answering all telephone calls that came to the front desk, posting on social media sites, assisting drop in clients with faxing, and using the computers. In all was a great place and atmosphere to work.
Pros
Monday through Friday 9-5 hours, great co-workers
Cons
Not enough professional development

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR (Former Employee) –  Elmwood, Winnipeg2 January 2014
A typical day at work was to come in and check for voice messages and emails, prioritize and deal with most urgent. Get a coffee and begin work on any funding proposals or reports that were due. Did research for funding proposals. Went over supply orders with executive assistant and approved or added to them. Met with staff to help resolve problems or concerns they may have encountered or to assign tasks or gather info for writing proposals.

Opened mail with executive assistant, advising which bills should be paid with which funding, passing over mail to staff, making decisions about purchasing promotional materials for the organization.

Approving expenditures and signing off on them, plus co-signing cheques for bill payment. Meeting with the comptroller to analyze whether we were meeting our proposed budget and making decisions on adjustments as needed.

Checking email and phone messages and responding throughout the day. Attending meetings onsite and offsite re networking, community action, service provider action. Chaired several committees.
Pros
Close knit staff, sense of making a huge difference in people's lives, good training offered
Cons
Close knit staff, gossip, heavy workload, not enough professional development for board members
