It's a great job, don't get me wrong. I knew going in the pay is not red-carpet worthy, but the job is very rewarding if you like kids.
Constantly changing routes on someone is very distressing if they are comfortable in that route and developed a connection with the students, parents and schools. It's not the type of job that can be constantly shifted when they want as it's a "relationship" building job and building relationships is extremely time, work and mental effort intensive.
Considering many employees are at or above retirement age and some people just can't make that change work 3, 4 and even 5 times over with the expectation you learn the names of all or most of the children, they just don't get it that their constant moving people around is stressful for the driver.
I really hope they can understand that because they could be so successful instead of having a revolving door. I was sad that I had to leave, but no one likes having that kind of stress thrust on them. I will miss the other drivers and the kids I and many other departed drivers got to know.
Can take your children with you, mid-day time off of 4 hours or more depending on your run
Constantly changing routes on you. Not willing to defend their drivers from false accusations, won't let you write up parents for screaming at you
