A good first job experience
Warehouse Associate (Current Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 21 July 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedI had fun. There were definitely moments where I would feel mentally/physically overwhelmed and stressed, though it wasn’t horribly often. The work place culture was pretty decent, and I smiled because of someone at least once a day. Overall, a positive experience.

Emotional Leadership
Head Shipper (Former Employee) - Calgary, AB - 30 October 2023
The culture that drives Eecol is sales. The leadership are sales people, they sell you on the idea of good employment and a promise of a good wage… it’s just a sales pitch. Many employees have second jobs or they are living with their parents. “Moving Up” is the mantra, but the turnover for staff is so bad, very few move up fast enough to see a significant increase in their wage. If you see a problem, don’t fix it. Someone may be offended by your initiative or abilities to do better. The first day they will give you a ton of protocol to follow, only for management not to follow that very same protocol. The contradiction can be hard to understand and navigate. You will be reprimanded for something that someone else did and once exonerated, management will not apologize. The hardest part of working here was discerning who to report to. So many “managers” but only one has unlimited power over everything. There is no job security at all. An overly emotional day can cost you your employment. No warning or write ups. This place is broken and toxic. The people in charge are the culprits and they love to blame everyone else. If you have a pulse, they will hire you, but heed my warning, you are expendable and you are not valued. Regardless of what the sales people say.
Pros
Kind co-workers
Cons
Pay, no job security, leadership

Just meh
Receiver/Order Filler/Wire room/Pick ups (Former Employee) - Winnipeg, MB - 24 July 2023
Work was actually really easy, once you learn the processes through the warehouse it's all pretty straight forward. Benefits were great. Pay is horrible, they try and sell you the fantasy that eecol can you give you a career but it can't anymore, when they were privately owned maybe but not anymore. Advancement is difficult and even if you show the right attitude and take the responsibility of a higher position, you will not be paid for it. Manager was trash at the time of my employment, nice enough dude just couldn't manage anything. Decent culture though, everyone was pretty cool.
Pros
Lots of smoke breaks
Cons
The most minimum of minimum wage

Too much change
Sales (Former Employee) - Alberta - 23 July 2023
Always changing something in the sales process then move on to another but never go back to see how it is working. Do not consult the people they are making the change with.

Terrible management
Warehouse Associate (Former Employee) - Warehouse - 7 June 2023
Management is completely incompetent and totally unreliable. Training is inadequate, you are expected to know what you’re doing without any proper training. They claim to promote from within, but constantly hire outside to fill positions higher than the warehouse. Talking down and berating employees seems to be the primary form of motivation
Pros
8-430 schedule
Cons
Toxic management

Management declined and there was no respect. If you were not liked your concerns of bullying and harassment were not validated
Warehouse Associate (Former Employee) - Langley, BC - 20 April 2023
Management went into decline 3 years ago. Atmosphere was toxic and unsupportive. Respect there isn't earned or gained it depends on if your liked. If you enjoy not standing up for yourself then this is the place to be.

Seemed like a good place to work on the surface
Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) - Saskatoon, SK - 17 April 2023
At first EECOL seems like a good place to work, with good benefits, competitive pay, and great people to work with. But after a short while you realized that management is incompetent and doesn't care at all about the warehouse employees, they don't train any of their employees in anything and wait until someone makes a mistake to throw it back in their face, and are scraping away what little benefits warehouse employees have. They claim to be a promote from within company, but constantly hire out people for higher placed positions when they have no understanding of EECOL's procedures and system.
Pros
8-4:40 Mon-Fri Schedule
Cons
Terrible Mangement, Declining Benefits, Declining Morale, No Proper Training

Not great
Shipper (Former Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 17 January 2023
Everyone starting in shipping/receiving and you are expected to keep the same pace during your shift and other staff are allowed to stand around and talk all day. They enjoy your failures and it’s one of the most toxic places I’ve worked
Pros
Benefits
Cons
Worked like a dog and not rewarded

Excellent opportunity for advancement
Supervisor (Current Employee) - British Columbia - 13 January 2023
EECOL is a promote from within company with plenty of opportunity to grow. Like any company there are things some people wont like and sone will love but its all about how you see it. I have a great career here and look forward to many more years to come.

Jobs at EECOL
Great place to work
Shipping/Receiving, Counter Sales (Former Employee) - North Vancouver, BC - 12 December 2022
Great place to work. The staff is awesome to work with and management is terrific. Work is generally stress free if you are on top of it and don't spend hours doing nothing.
Pros
great management, great location, great employees
Cons
Pay is a bit low

Better Opportunities
Supervisor (Former Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 26 October 2022
I would recommend looking into other warehouse work before looking here. The pay is minimal and the workload is fairly high. The company expects you to work overtime without pay. For example, if a customer comes in 5 mins till closing and if it takes 30 mins to help the customer you are there helping them without overtime and it happens constantly. Management doesn't care about what is needed to do the job properly and try to placate you instead of actually getting thing done properly. Constant gossip and talking behind people's backs from staff members. The only thing good I can say about the company is the benefits and work schedule.
Pros
benefits, 9-5 job schedule
Cons
poor management & work culture

Not a good place to work
Receptionist (Former Employee) - Langley, BC - 25 October 2022
Langley location is very toxic. Management is awful and not supportive. Staff are gossips and many will try and sabotage you. They will fire you just to not have to pay you for a medical. Very gross morale. Very difficult to advance and make enough money. Only positive I can say is the few people I made friends with the the actual job duties were somewhat decent.

Honestly poopy place to work when advancing
Inside Sales (Former Employee) - Winnipeg, MB - 12 October 2022
I was hired into the receiving/ yard position and was moved up within 3 months(awesome, makes you feel great) it went awesome. Was promoted onto the front counter after 6 months in pick ups( probably already to quick with no experience). Get told by all upper management that I was doing great and you have a promising career here no worries you have nothing to worry about. Just over a year later get moved into the office for inside sales, yet again told I am doing great and after 4 months get let go without cause and told its not working out. After seeing all the other reviews it must happen allot. My suggestion if you have life outside of work don't work there. They expect you to learn all your product knowledge after hours with zero compensation.

Easy work for awful pay
Warehouse Associate (Former Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 17 September 2022
The managers are nice and the instant two weeks of PTO are nice. The starting wage is about 15$ ish and your one raise you get a year is about 60 cents. Stay for a year, get forklift experience and go somewhere else that’ll pay you better. The benefits are terrible too.
Pros
Free popcorn fridays
Cons
Pay

Great people
Sales Associate (Former Employee) - Fort McMurray, AB - 19 July 2022
Only downfall is the pay. But if you work hard there are lots of opportunities for advancement and the culture and people are terrific. Good company to grow with.
Pros
Great culture, opportunities for advancement
Cons
Pay, hours

Stressful, short staffed. Management are bullies
Warehouse Worker (Former Employee) - Calgary, AB - 18 July 2022
Management pick on certain employees while others bask in freedom to fool around. Office staff are snobby and demanding and show no appreciation or care to get to know the people who do their orders.
Pros
Mon-Fri, annual bbq
Cons
Stressful, horrible management

Fun workplace / pay wasn't great though
Shipper/Receiver (Former Employee) - Fort McMurray, AB - 23 June 2022
This workplace was a fun place to be and your work load wasn't bad. Unfortunately it's hard to live in Fort Mcmurray on the wages that they offered. They payed below average in regards to jobs that were similar at other companies.
Pros
Work environment was fairly healthy
Cons
Pay isn't great

By the book corporation
Sales Associate (Former Employee) - Calgary, AB - 14 May 2022
The managers and HO are more concerned with even the slightest improvement of a number on a spreadsheet than taking care of their employees. It's sad because they have alot of talented people but overwork them and spread them thin. It takes months for them to even post open positions, leaving everyone in the department to "pick up the slack". Pay is decent, not great, not terrible, but you will have to fight to get any kind of meaningful wage increase. There is constantly "raise freezes" while simultaneously they boast in company wide emails about record sales months. At the end of the day it is just another mediocre place to make a living and I'd gladly never work there again.
Pros
8 hour days, Co-Workers
Cons
Poor support system, lackluster leadership, stressful

Fun workplace, good people, but stressful and low pay
Shipper/Receiver (Former Employee) - Calgary, AB - 20 April 2022
Everybody there was very friendly and it made the work day more enjoyable. Lots of young people there, and lots of room for growth. I personally saw a handful of my close coworkers get promoted despite not being there for a great deal of time. However, the pay that some of my coworkers and I received did not justly reflect the hard and fast paced work that we had to do at times. We did get good benefits though. Despite that, the employees and management made it the best job I've ever had

Faceless Corporation
Sales Associate (Current Employee) - Calgary, AB - 11 April 2022
I've worked for Eecol for a fair while and have to say it is only going down hill. Normally I don't write reviews but felt compelled to warn people off of this place. Pay is barely market competitive and the managers will make sure to short change you if they can. Everyone is stressed or depressed but mass company wide emails will praise the culture like everyone that works for the company is "family" and we are a team. Make no mistake, the managers are not on your side. As for the employees, most are good, hard working people but that doesn't make up for the short staff and false promises. Overall don't work here unless you just want a paycheck and don't mind being miserable to get it.
Pros
Co-workers can be great
Cons
Work load per capita, non-existent management, leaders who make zero effort to lead
