Scada and Communications Technologist (Current Employee) –  Squamish, BC27 May 2014
This is a very challenging position. SCADA is a multifacited technology.
Daily work includes installation or replacement of radio infrastructure. Alos updating SCADA RTU logic, HMI and creating historical graphs and charts for analysis.
There is daily interaction with engineering and opertions departments.
This is a very rewarding position, knowing we are responsible to keep the town water supply safe and available and managing sewage and other utilities.
It is very rewarding to see a project thru to completion.
There are also opportunities to give presentations to other communities about the work we have done.
Pros
Very rewarding to maintain these systems
Cons
Can sometimes be difficult to maintain communication links in a mountain and tree environment
