Insights into DENSO
What people like
- Clear sense of purpose
- Fair pay for job
- Feeling of personal appreciation
Steady work - worst communication, organization and appreciation
Assembly Line Worker (Former Employee) - Guelph, ON - 25 June 2021
I used to defend this company to everyone no matter what because in all I thought it was a great company to work for. Sadly, I was wrong. Keep in mind I had next to no major issues until I decided to leave this company because I couldn't advance and wanted a new career. Working their in general is fine if you do not want to advance and are willing to work crazy long hours. But if you are looking to build a career that will require some serious a** kissing and making sure you are managements favorite. Even following their 'road map' you'll have to fight to get the opportunity to complete tasks. You will have no life outside of Denso. If you are single and looking to make decent money, awesome! If you even wish to have any social life or family time you'll miss out. This is not the case in every department but in the main areas you could be working 10-12 hours a day. Add in commute and getting ready etc you're looking at a very long exhausting day. If you try to raise an issue to HR, well they are to busy to truly help you past the surface of getting you out their door. They may even encourage you to take time off then email you with unclear instructions that you've already addressed with them. Now, this isn't their fault as they are under staffed and underworked but my HR rep needed much better communication skills. Email correspondence in abbreviation and one sentence replies was not sufficient regarding larger issues. Depending on who you are trying to contact within the company regarding simple requests you most likely will never hear back from them. I was lucky to get -
Pros
Work is always available, pay is decent, could make a couple work friends.
Cons
Long hours, lack of communication, little support, disorganized, stressful, favoritism

Hard work is overlooked by friendships and personal opinions
Sub Leader (Current Employee) - Guelph, ON - 19 June 2021
I’ve worked for Denso for almost 10 years and have been in the same position for the last 6. If you are someone who is looking to climb the ladder, it’s all about who you know and brown nosing at this place. Hard work is not acknowledged. No sense in going above and beyond your duties. Unless you have friends in high places, you’re out of luck. If you keep your head down, do what is required of you and don’t aspire to do more, then this could be the place for you.

Deducted and reliable work force
Production Control Specialist (Former Employee) - Guelph, ON - 17 April 2021
I worked for Denso for 19 years. During my time their, I watched the company grow and expand becoming the company they are today. To work for Denso, I felt job security was one of the most positive aspects of the company. They have lots of advancement opportunities as they grow and competitive wages. If your looking for a full time job to support your family, Denso is a good place to go.
Pros
Good wage, good benefits, great people to work with
Cons
Sometimes mandatory hrs are not suitable for your family life.

Don't work here
Production Associate (Former Employee) - Guelph, ON - 1 March 2021
There are two shifts: 6am-4pm or 4pm-2am (this is the max, shifts are normally shorter). Generally you're switching back and forth every two weeks. This means your ability to sleep suffers. you're constantly tired and they don't take production mistakes lightly. it's very stressful and the work environment is toxic.
Pros
good pay
Cons
toxic work environment, bad work life balance, no sleep, stressful.

Great place to work
Maintenance Sub-leader Electrician / Millwright (Former Employee) - Guelph, ON - 9 February 2020
Worked there for over 5 years, still stay in touch with former colleagues.
Overtime is available if you want it. Perks, a cafeteria, bonus structure, clean and high tech. Christmas shutdown and being able to bank over time for the next year makes 3 weeks holidays possible in your first year.
Management and HR very professional.

Good pay that's it
Quality Inspector (Former Employee) - Guelph, ON - 27 January 2020
Rotating shift every two weeks. Usually from 6:30 am till 3:00 pm for days and 4:00 pm till 12:30 am. But expected to do mandatory overtime of at least 1 to 2 hours 5 days a week. Very fast pace causing lots injuries and people quitting all the time. Even temps don't want to work here causing company to find temps from Brampton or greater Toronto areas.

Not a great place
Machine Operator (Current Employee) - Guelph, ON - 24 November 2019
Working there is easy. But management sucks, split shifts sucks, no accommodation for trying to better yourself, company doesn't listen to workers complaints

Just a number
Production Associate (Former Employee) - Guelph, ON - 23 October 2019
Didn't feel valued as a employee, you are even 1 min late because of unforeseen stuff getting in the way, either it be traffic or life they don't cant care and you will get dinged for it. There was a lady that was having HEART PROBLEMS and had to go to the ER and still got in trouble for it. If that does not say something about the company i don't know what will.

Fast paced
Assembler (Former Employee) - Guelph, ON - 13 October 2019
The people are amazing to work with but like every job you'll have some you won't get along with. It is a fast paced work on the line. If you got issues? Forget it. Management won't really listen to you especially if it is work related. They rather wait for someone to get physically hurt. 2 week shift rotation - 2 weeks days, then 2 weeks afternoons vice versa. Only 7 Family emergency days.
Pros
Good pay, amazing benefits, people are amazing, 2 weeks paid vacation, 1 week off at Christmas.
Cons
2 weeks afternoons (4pm to 230am), shift work (2 weeks days 6am to 4pm- then 2 weeks afternoons), poor management

If you value money over your mental health then step right up
Production Associate (Current Employee) - Guelph, ON - 22 September 2019
It is hard work, and long hours. They care not about your life outside of work, and put reaching production numbers over the mental and physical health of the employees. Management cares not about solving issues on the floor, or fixing major problems with the way the factory functions they only care about there own advancement and impressing those who are above them. They abuse hard working employees by piling the majority of the workload onto them knowing that they will be able to get it done, while the employees who are lazy and unwilling to put in the effort will stand around and get away with it. They do pay better than most places in the area so if you are looking to make a decent amount of money, but go home hating yourself and in pain every single day, the denso manufacturing is definitely the place for you
Pros
Good benefits, good pay
Cons
Poor managment, little chance for advancment, hating yourself
