Overall good place to work
SHR Coordinator (Current Employee) - NWT - 17 November 2022
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedI have been with De Beers for almost 2 years and changed roles within the period and I can say it is a great place to work. Their operational sites are extremely remote and work-life balance will be the only area of concern.
Pros
Good pay, good wokr place culture with support from management
Cons
Extremely remote operational site

Not a terrible place to work
Heavy equipment technician (Current Employee) - Northwest Territories - 30 May 2023
Don’t mind it here, the people you work with are great. It’s the little things here. Constantly getting sick, not great food, dorms are 3/10 and parts for equipment will drive you up the wall. Cause there isn’t much. Tooling is what you make of it. High turn over rate in the shop. Management booted Sms out and they brought in mader and 70-80% of them don’t give a care The mentality here is save a penny by spending a dollar. So take that as you will.

Plumber/Gasfitter/Oil Burner Mechanic (Former Employee) - Northwest Territories - 7 December 2022
Good pay, but difficult work/life balance with a family and working remotely. Camp is not the best quality, but the workers are great. Management is tough to connect with.

Decent place to work considering your in the arctic
Surface Miner (Former Employee) - Gauhcho Kue - 22 November 2022
No ot unless you stayed past your run. Difficult getting flights back home from hub. Arctic weather makes travel unsure. Some of camp rooms are nice. Some are decent some are terrible

Stressful work culture
HEAVY EQUIPMENT TECHNICIAN (Current Employee) - Northwest Territories - 18 November 2022
if you want to work for a company that has a superintendent whose attitude is his way or the high way, who has put unqualified people into leadership positions because they are friends or, yes, men have no tools to repair anything spend hours trying to find basics hand tools then this is the place for you

Good Company and loction to experience a mine start-up
Maintenance Manager (Former Employee) - Yellowknife - 1 May 2022
The job involved a lot of detail to both large and small assignments. Required a lot of communication with other department leads. Travel to and from the mine was provided by the company from the local office in Yellowknife. The mine camp left a little to be desired, as it was mostly older camp trailers. Older but they provided the necessities. Management was new to the mining in the north and there was a large learning curve for many.
Pros
Good relationships with department heads and management.
Cons
Long winters

Finance revolving door
Financial Analyst (Former Employee) - Calgary, AB - 18 October 2021
Worked in finance and found out soon enough that people do not stay. Manager, who was controlling and old school, made the role difficult as there was little sharing of information. Budgets and analysis were overly complex and culture was built on a lean organization where a full plate + was expected. Many in the organization could not take their vacations as there was little to no backup.
Pros
Modern office, good technology and friendly leaders
Cons
No backup, sink or swim - cameras are everywhere

My experience as a house keeper with debeers
Housekeeping (Former Employee) - Yellowknife, NT - 20 February 2020
I enjoyed working at DeBeers, IN a quick summary looking back at my past experience. I was was a full-time housekeeper on a 2-week routine. The things that I liked the most about my job as a house would be: How busy I was from the beginning of my shift to the end. I enjoyed working with people and assisting them when asked.

Good Company to Work for.
SHE (Safety) Coordinator (Contract Position) (Former Employee) - Victor Mine - Attawapiskat, ON - 10 January 2020
Everyday is challenging and rewarding. Management was always supportive and available for people. My time with DeBeers was during the start-up period of an operation and a "Safety" culture was very important to the company. The most difficult part of the job was that of individuals who were peers who were threatened by others who were more experienced and had more knowledge then they had. The most enjoyable part of the job was developing meaningful safety policies and procedures.

Wish i were still there
Development Scoop Operator (Former Employee) - Snap lake, NWT - 9 December 2019
It was a great place to work. Employees were given a chance to do training. Unfortunately when the place closed we were told debeers would look after us when it came to jobs at the other mine. That did not happen.

Team Building
General Mine Supervisor (Former Employee) - Northwest Territories - 6 December 2019
Having had the advantage of being at the Snap Lake Mine during it's construction I was able to assemble several dynamic underground teams pairing young new miners with very experienced miners that safely broke production records in difficult ground and water conditions.
I was awarded a very prestigious safety award within the company due to my unwillingness to compromise on any safety issue.

Excellent organization!!
IT leader (Former Employee) - Toronto, ON - 23 November 2019
Excellent company to Work for! Lots of opportunities and a great health a safety culture. They truly value their employees. Above average pay, good benefits, very generous vacation and long/short term incentives. Started in Toronto and moved with the company to Calgary. Culture and dynamics changed after the move and it was never the same. Unfortunately due to business changes the company is shell of what it used to be now.

Great place to work at, awesome opportunities.
Environmental Technician (Former Employee) - Victor Diamond Project, Attawapiskat, Ontario - 2 October 2019
I really enjoyed my tenure at De Beers Victor Diamond Project, the people were great, the work was challenging and a great learning experience. Working in environmental was awesome, some really great people to work for. I wished in hindsight that I would have stayed a little bit longer and got to work on the metallurgical side a while. De Beers was one of the better if not the best company that I have worked at. Thank you De Beers for the opportunity you presented.

Exciting
Camp Administrator/Camp Manager (Former Employee) - Yellowknife, NT - 19 March 2019
Worked two weeks on and two weeks off having to fly an hour each way. The environment was exciting and took my management experience to a new level. I would highly suggest trying it to anyone with a sense of adventure but make sure to dress warm! It was -50 some days!
