Developmental disabilities resource worker in the community
Clients are great, a lot of paperwork though. Many hours outside work time is spent on additional work without pay.Start at 830 but expected to check work emails at 730 for schedule changes which could happen up to 10 times a day.

Management DO NOT value staff
Good points - Clients. Coworkers who really care.Bad points - Management don’t care about staff.Multiple schedule/location/client changes daily, starting one hour before work at 7.30am.Management NEVER acknowledge or answer emails.Management never open to suggestions that would benefit our clients.Unnecessary travelling across large areas of the city every day. Lots of driving with multiple clients. Switching clients and locations at lunchtimes for absolutely no reason, often creating a logistical nightmare.Mismatching paired clients eg high energy clients scheduled with very low energy clients with very different interests and abilities. Pairing clients that are known not to get along very well with each other.High staff turnover. Staff are fired with no prior warnings or explanation. Was glad to be laid off during COVID and have a much better job now.

Worst management ever
I will say my direct supervisor was a good person, too good for that place and thankfully she left or was asked to leave, they don't really like people who are positive and create a healthy work environment. Bonuses were good helped buy a few ticket items for my home that I wouldn't have been able to purchase without a good savings plan. The culture was toxic, from the top position to HR and most of the managers were quite something, everything that books are written about that is wrong with a work place. Keep your nose down, do your job, agree to all the nonsense and you can likely stick around for awhile, or follow in the footprints of the toxic people then you'll make it for sure.

Management needs A LOT of work
Clients and most support workers are very positive and caring for clients. Management has a lot of nepotism and hypocrisy. If you make a mistake, management will remind you of it continuously even if you no longer show that behavior. Performance reviews are done by your team lead who you rarely see.
