awesome staff and company
Senior Sales and Service Representative (Current Employee) –  Vancouver, BC20 August 2019
CWB prioritize their staff more than any company I have been with before. They make sure they are looking after their staff and they are taken care of to ensure their staff gives their all when it comes to the client.

CWB is doing everything right!
Pros
hours and work events (no weekend shifts!)
Cons
nothing

Great people; Family style company
Project Manager (Former Employee) –  Edmonton, AB1 October 2019
CWB cares about their employees and sees everyone as part of the family. They are in a growth cycle for the next several years so job security for performers is all but guaranteed. Because it was a smaller company, the salaries are a bit behind the industry standards for some positions. The benefits are top notch and there are very attractive financial benefits if you decide to move your banking / mortgage with them. Some employees have been there for many, many years which gives great stability for some processes but also can create an environment of 'we don't do that here' on some fronts. Undergoing a lot of change currently - very busy.
Pros
Open leadership; family structured culture; equal opportunity employer; growth cycle
Cons
Lower than standard salary for some roles; some 'cowboy' work by leaders

CWB is a great employer
Loan Monitoring Specialist (Former Employee) –  Alberta19 September 2019
Company is going through a lot of changes in recent years to compete with the big 5 banks. Benefits are great, you start with 3 weeks paid vacation and it only goes up from there. There are a lot of long term employees here.

Ok place to work
Sales and Service Representative (Bank Teller) (Former Employee) –  Regina, SK26 August 2019
It's a close community of workers, very friendly staff that make you feel welcome. However, managers tend to be clueless when it comes to their staff and how to manage them.

Dated and Inflexible
Administrative Officer (Former Employee) –  Edmonton20 July 2019
CWB is having a hard time getting with the times, as evidenced by their attempt to freshen up by removing the serifs from their logo. This was a place where the butts in seats mentality ruled, managers were resistant to change and micromanagement was rampant, HR frequently provided misinformation, and everyone I worked with had anxiety problems.
Pros
Good benefits, limited overtime
Cons
Lack of change management, lots of micromanagement, stuck in their status quo, incompetent management and HR, mouse infestation

Good bank
Salesforce Admin/Developer Consultant (Current Employee) –  Alberta21 May 2019
All deposit amounts are 100% guaranteed and include accrued interest to the date of payout. Deposit amounts include chequing and savings accounts, RRSP deposits, RRIF deposits, TFSA deposits, foreign currency deposits, and term deposits, including those with terms exceeding five years. This means both the deposit money you put in and the interest earned is safe and secure – up to any dollar amount!

Pathetic promotion and salary but backed by great benefits...
Sales and Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) –  Edmonton, AB30 April 2019
Growth/ Promotions and Salary sucks here. The best part here is the work life balance and the benefits. Lot of favoritism within the departments. If you are one of the bosses favorite you get cross trained, you get to move up in the company. Inspite of having qualification and interest, some people put you down
Pros
Great benefits
Cons
Hope for few cents increase in pay cheque after appraisals and be happy!!

Downtown parking, if you are not allotted free parking.

Manager Commercial Banking (Former Employee) –  Edmonton, AB2 January 2019
Required longer working hours, lots of typing, less focus on ratio analysis, hard to talk about management as no goals were set for me. Clients had better relationship with the branch manager than the relationship manager.
Pros
good pay
Cons
long hours

They say they value their employees, they don't.
Manager, Network Administration (Former Employee) –  Edmonton, AB12 October 2018
They tell you they have a work life balance and they want you to be happy. What they don't tell you is you are salary and they literally expect you to work all the time. You are always working, but never getting paid for it. If you are out at a movie, you are still working for Canadian Western Bank and representing them.
Pros
They have free doughnut fridays
Cons
The atmosphere, the environment, the management, more interested in how they appear then if employees are good.

Division among different levels of management to the front-line staff.
Great benefits package but base salary was low although bonuses were recently introduced. Not a lot of room for advancement/promotion.
