Not as inclusive as they say

The work culture is old fashion and punitive. Depending on your role there is a huge concern of being de-skilled. Pay and benefits are generous and bonus is quite good. However, if you leave the company you might not be as competitive with your peers in the job market. The work culture is not as diverse and inclusive as they like and they do not crack down on inappropriate behaviour.

Pros

Generous benefits and above industry pay

Cons

Senior managers and above get away with inappropriate behaviour, company org structure is disproportionate including mostly senior people

Best place to work

best place to work in Toronto financial services market. Fast paced, lean, focussed. No unnecessary bureaucracy. Great people, team work, team spirit. Excellent benefits

Great salary, toxic envirinment.

There is a favouritism to employees who have been there from the beginning, warranted or not. And these employee's arrogance and high handed treatment of other staff is unparalleled. If an employee reports this treatment or objects to it, you soon find your position eliminated due to "reorganization", a favourite catch phrase of the CPPIB. This was the worst experience of my career.

Pros

Salary

Cons

Favourtism to long standing employees, whether warranted or not.

High performing environment with micro aggressive culture

The organization has great resources to work with and they hire extremely top talent. The only issue is there is a clear favoritism to people with no ethnically backgrounds. They have worked pretty hard to have great policies and compensation but there is a lot work to be done in shaping a culture that promotes a healthier environment for work.

Pros

Salary, learning and future opportunities outside the company

Cons

condescending and patronizing behavior, Inner exclusive groups with higher privilege

Great place to work at plus free Perrier

Friendly and inclusive environments. The directors and VPs will learn who you are in a good way. Upper management is approachable. Free soda, teas , Perrier, coffees, and snacks. Free quarterly breakfasts and monthly lunches. Opportunities of moving up in the organization. Lots of videos to review when starting. You do have to fill out what investment you hold even if you are not involved with the trading.

Pros

Free food and drinks

Cons

Wish contractors would have a more direct route of obtaining full time jobs.

CPPIB is an industry interrupting, growth company in a growth sector. The culture is young, dynamic, but not reckless. Management is open with all employees and values contributions and consistently demonstrates a commitment to the betterment of the employees. The benefits and work environment are stellar.
