Good place to work. Good management. Good people to work with. Easy going environment. I would highly recommend anyone to work there. Quiet area and they have a reasonable in-house cafeteria as well.
A typical day was very hectic, with competing priorities, and often conflicting direction. The culture is quite different at each location, so people in different offices have different experiences and workloads. Employees are dedicated for the most part, but senior leadership is inconsistent in direction and execution.
Pros
Front line workers are generally very nice, caring and and dedicated.
Cons
Lots of people are very overworked, work/life balance is poor. Salaries and benefits are mediocre. HR is out of touch.
more important to be liked by the right people than to do a good job.
countless hours wasted per day on walking around, socializing and gossiping.
Not as productive as could/should be.
The company is a good company with many benefits to working there. I learned a great deal and the culture is up beat and happy. It's like working with your family
Pros
Many activities outside of work, and easy to work with.
Cons
Upper management has been an issue with new work and being innovative
nothing special about this place. It respects its workers but it is a desk job that is good for consistency and for the grind. If you are looking to get in make money and get out this is the job for you
It's a busy place, but that's not unusual for an insurance brokerage; the people you work with are a good team and management is open to suggestions and new ideas.
It's not a call centre, you have your own clients to deal with (plus helping out if someone is away, of course).
There are special events for staff, lots of internal job opportunities, and it's never boring!
There are new people now hired to do training in Personal and Commercial, so that will really improve things for new hires in the coming months.
Pros
Good pension and benefits, extra 2 days off every year in addition to vacation
Cons
Busy place - but that makes the day go by fast!
I enjoyed working with most of the people for the most part and to working with a favorite bunch on a regular basis, the became family. It was time to go unfortunately
Pros
the people
Cons
Manager belittles and does not help to succeed in the job, has major issues with themself.
Excellent working environment. Nice and professional staff. Lots of benefits for workers. Over 1000 people working there. I wold love to get permanent job there.
Managers have no problem firing quality staff members to bring in friends and family. There is no job security and no loyalty to good employees. They promote inexperienced people and expect them to properly manage a team
Pros
Good hours
Cons
Inexperienced managers
call center is bombarded with calls for request to information in regards to users insurance policies, it can be very challenging figuring out information.
Pros
great hours
Cons
contract job
Cowan is great place to work with a very friendly environment.
the routine is almost the same everyday and the work repeats a lot.
they're is opportunity of growth in the companies but challenges can become common and boring.
looking for more a challenging job with new experiences.
Pros
daily routines
Cons
No more challenges
I started in October and went through a two weeks training when it should atleast been a month, expected to know everything when you weren't trained on it and when you are it's an hour and that's it. Damned if you ask questions and damned if you don't.
Pros
Benefits, Ideal location
Cons
Weak supervising
You get your paycheck, which isn't much, you get some work that are interesting, but not challenging. Definitely no room to advance, and job security isn't always a sure thing.
Daily learning experience. Growing company with a variety of clients and members. Very experienced and knowledgeable co-workers. Ideal location in Ottawa.
A typical day at work would be taking call from service providers to know if a client is eligible for renewal on a service previously claimed. clients call to find out what they are covered for and some admin work has to be done when clients request change in plan.
Employees are great to work with. No training provided but enjoyed learning what I could.
