Good work environment
Recreation Therapist (Current Employee) - Penetanguishene, ON - 31 August 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedThe multidisciplinary team approach is very much utilized here. Aside from the odd burnt out staff I always feel as though my opinions and insight matter.

Any Yard but Beeton.
Operator/Laborer (Former Employee) - Beeton, ON - 16 June 2023
I was told at the interview that there are lots of positions that come up, (which is true) but it was not cleatly expressed that one has to start at the bottom and grind their way through senority with the union, and so I found it a bit of half-truths being told. I have no problems with unions per se, and wouldn't have minded sticking it out, but from my experience, Beeton Yard was not a good fit for me. Best of luck & hope this helps.
Cons
Micro-managed at times. Was asked to perform tasks that, in my opinion, were a waste of time and resources, and given the improper tools to do the task.

Wonderful residents poor management
Housekeeper (Former Employee) - New Tecumseth - 24 April 2023
The pay was quite good, the residents I worked with were by far the best part of the job I made amazing connections. Management however treated people poorly. People who weren’t management but acted like it also treated people poorly and gossiped constantly

Some locations are fine, Beeton yard is not fine at all.
Snow Plow Operator (Former Employee) - Beeton - 20 March 2023
Grown men, some with 20 - 25 years signority behaving like children. If you are a mild, flexible person, be prepared to be taken advantage of by almost everyone. If you are a hard working, punctual, polite, reliable person ( who speaks up & won't be pushed around ) be prepared to be the target of jelousy, envy, petty acusations, back-stabbing, and endless confrontations leading to a stressfull and toxic work environment. Definite favoritism, croneism along with an antiquated, petty management style makes the Beeton #2 location the worst of all the yards. Midhurst is possibly the best of all the yards.
Pros
Management get an F150 pickup to take home every night . all expenses taken care of.
Cons
Cleaning toilets, mopping, sweeping, grinding the rust off plows...Beeton management removed the lunch room TV as punishment to all, ( on hearsay accusations made by one idiot )

Great place to work
Solid waste management (Former Employee) - County of Simcoe - 18 February 2023
I have nothing bad to say about this company or department. Lots of fun, lots of talented staff, always felt included. Difficult to get ahead because of the lack of staff turnover. Good problem to have.

Not a terrible job but do something else
Transfer Station Site Attendant (Former Employee) - Midland, ON - 9 January 2023
It’s not a terrible job but some coworkers are arrogant, back stabbing, and condescending. Poor management/site supervisors” (4 of them) are highly overpaid and don’t care about employee conflicts or site problems. If you get hired here it will be an entry level position with 40 people higher than you on the solid waste management seniority list and you will have absolutely no job security. I do not recommend working here.
Pros
Good pay for the work
Cons
Toxic co workers, poor management, employees are not appreciated.very little job security

Administrative Assistant (Current Employee) - Corporate Performance - 1 December 2022
I enjoy working here. Good support from the management. Colleagues are friendly. There are opportunities for learning and County supports with the tuition program they have. Good benefits. I like the on site perks - gym, cafeteria. There is always something interesting happening - wellness challenges, team building events, etc.

Not a great place to work. Having worked in other levels of government and companies, I do not recommend this employer.
Caseworker (Former Employee) - Various locations - 28 November 2022
Some positives but the work culture and negativity amongst employees and management is more apparent the longer you work there. I would not Recommend a long stay. Not a professional approach to dealing with employees..

Nothing wild, as expected. Good pay and benefits, fair amount of time off. No serious concerns. I would work there again if I needed to. Really nice coworkers.

Great Place to Work!
Manager (Current Employee) - Administration Centre, Midhurst - 15 November 2022
I enjoy my work at the County and feel like I am contributing something meaningful. People are friendly and supportive and share an interest in working for the common good. We can see how our work has a direct impact on the residents of the County. I have had many opportunities to develop my skills and work on interesting projects. I enjoy my work (most days, lol). I really appreciate the flexibility of hybrid work.
Pros
Hybrid locations (part at home and part remote), very fair salaries, good benefits package, staff appreciation and recognition
Cons
High workloads

Very stressful place to work, not because of clients, but Micro management and lack of faith in Employees
Caseworker (Former Employee) - Barrie, ON - 20 October 2022
If you want to work at the County do not become an Ontario Works caseworker, they pick and and choose who they want to advance, otherwise zero growth opportunities. Contrary to their recruitment ads, they lack diversity, with no visible minority in senior management. Their management believes they are above everyone else, they always to prove they are in charge. Don't even ask about your co-workers, they are as cold as the winters up in Barrie. Union is the worst in Ontario, they are all looking for managerial positions, so they wont fight for you.
Pros
Free parking, benefits
Cons
High turn over, Everything based on seniority, Micromanagement, lack of opportunities. lack of diversity. Lack of Genuine support, Management forget caseworkers are human. No work life balance.

Productiv but not fun
Maintenance Worker/Custodian (Current Employee) - Midhurst, ON - 25 July 2022
Issues with Harrassment that is Never Dealt with, and you are punished if you try to get help. It also feels like HR protects bad managers and does nothing to correct the issues brought forward

Job knowledge. Responsibilities taken away.
Snow Plow Operator (Former Employee) - Orr lake - 11 May 2022
No support. Only negative support. Confused as to what the job entails. Job description changes without being notified. No meetings with foreman, only when something went wrong.
Pros
Good money
Cons
Bad hours. But livable.
