Night Merch/ForkLift Operator (531) - Costco is known for being a great place to work, what they fail to mention is how terrible it is starting out. Your are surrounded by senior staff members who make in some cases double the same amount of money you are for the same amount of work. In most cases their senior staff members feel invincible and slack off the majority of the time making it even more infuriating. This in turn creates a lot of staff turnover which forces management to hire young staff members to keep up, but because the majority of people are between 18-24 it feels like high school all over again. People only help their "friends" but then when they fall behind you will be expected to stay and help them. As for management themselves, you will either love them or hate them from my experience. Random managers showing up from other warehouses try and assert dominance gets old extremely fast. Overall, unless you plan on working here for the rest of your life, don't bother working here at all. I didn't even mention how entitled and arrogant the "members" are, and good luck trying working any weekend shift, place is slammed and always understaffed.
advancement, pay based on seniority
pay based on seniority, no incentive for hard work, understaffed, extremely busy, poor management, arrogant customers, low moral
When you work there, you sign a contract to never speak poorly about your experience at Costco in any way, shape or form that may form a negative view on costco, therefore I can not share my experience.
-fun, fast pace work environment -sub par benefits but a good pension/ rrsp program -management was that of the worst I have yet to experience. Imagine 4 best friends with bad attitudes managing a warehouse. That’s the Windsor Costco If corporate paid any attention to the Windsor location they would realize a change in management is desperately needed.
-stock shelves, receive trucks, clean the work area -management at my location could've been better -Hardest part of the job is managing your time -Most enjoyable part is looking at your perfected area when all the work is finished
Satrt at 4:30 am. Drive fork lift dropping product for the stockers to stock. putting stock in the steel to get store ready for open. Lots of friendly people. The job is retail after open I like working with the people and the job. Hardest part of the job is not having weekends off. Bets part of the job is starting early and getting out early.
Not haveing weekends off

As long as your doing your job its a perfect place. some member can really get on your nerves but that's part and parcel. The pay scale is a little scary at first and it difficult to get in full-time but as long as your committed and apply yourself it will be ok.
Great pay! top pay scale is 26 dolllars an hour
some management can be real winners. lol
Overall, a good company to work for. Everyone starts part time with low wages but raises are guaranteed with hours and the benefits are good too. Can pick up extra hours easily. Very organized. Expect to work hard.
Willing to train for new positions
Part time to start
If they see that you are a hard worker, they are going to do what they can to keep you. You are not treated as a number and the job benefits are quite decent for a company that is not unionised.
Easy to apply to different positions
seniority is prioritised over skill and hard work
Great pay and benefits but the work environment is terrible. Management is always on your case about up selling and flow of scanned items on your till and many more. A lot of favouritism, I mean it is everywhere. As well as management does not back up their own employees and leave them paying for what happened to the customer even if its the customers fault. Will never work for them again. It is very stressful working there too, they are not considerate for their employees with health issues.
Stressful, and frusterating
There is a lot of opportunity to grow your skills within the company, there are plenty of department to transfer to. The workplace is full of friendly and helping co-workers to help you with your experience.
Costco is by far the worst company to work for. It is filled with liars, back stabbers and people that will throw you under the bus to get ahead. You can't trust any body there, people will pretend to be your friend just to stab you in the back to get ahead. They have a open door policy which they will use to get you to feel comfortable to talk to them but then they use it against you. Management is horrible. They call people that may be "slow" re**rd behind their backs. Do yourself a favor and don't apply there, it's not worth it!
Benifits...Thas about it.
MANAGEMENT...and other employees. To many other things to mention.
