It was good. Fun, but demanding job. Lack of freedom, generally most people there are fairly comfortable so youll have to work hard to make up for them.

Pros

Great pay, great benefits

Cons

Extremely structured, manual labour

This is a good job if you are looking for something long term. Good benefits and pay for fulltime employees. The Deli was very fast pace and stressful

I met lots of good people and was cross trained in other departments, which made it easy to pick up hours. Very busy location, Management was good in other departments. Long shifts, long hours, lots of evenings and every weekend you work being a part time employee

Seniority Rules

Pay is nice, work environment sucked. Senior employees will throw you to the dogs. I got minimal training and was expected to be able to do things on my own without being told what I was doing. I was not made to feel like I was part of the team. I was working full time hours while being part time and got no benefits. Senior staff does not care about your feelings and will ignore your helplessness if you cannot keep up

Mediocre

Workers and Employers made you feel like there was no better option than working at Costco. You have to compete with other employees seniority for a chance at full-time employment.

Pros

Friendly Staff, Easy work

Cons

Erratic Shifts, Competitive full-time

A good place to work if looking long term

The benefits and job security are worth most of the work.. It depends on store location and when you come in. I came to the company when it was going through many changes and it hurt my pay grade. Many amazing people work at these locations. My main issue is how much they give to their senior employees. They keep asking for more and take from the people who are trying to get where they are. Advancement is very slow.. based on seniority. If you are young.. It's an amazing place to build a career. Some cashiers i know make 29.50 hr... If you're middle to older age group.. i suggest a a different look, because advancement is not performance base. I find the company holds a carrot in front of you with little ways of reaching it. But benefits are some of the best in the industry

Always busy

Work with great people. Work is always constant. And you get paid very well for a retail environment. You earn more vacation time as you work there longer.

Competitive but An excellent experience

Overall, Costco is a place that covers the cost of living with benefits, pension, competitive and reasonable wages with a massive group of friendly people. Teamwork is key, safety guild lines are strict and it’s a really fast paced environment! The training provided is a great experience and there’s many opportunities to move forward in the company! I’d highly recommend working for a company such as Costco

Great Place to work

Great place to work Managers think to much of themselves though. Takes a long time to move up the ladder, as ppl just don't leave here Tough work, be fit. Workplace culture -- like a factory Hardest areas to work: Deli and Meat Dept.

Pros

good wages, benefits, fair and regular increases, bonuses

Cons

hard physical work

Great people, fun place to work

Costco is a great place to work. The only drawback is there is not much opportunity for advancement. They pay well, have good benefits and it is a fun work environment.

Good benefits

For the lack of education needed to work here, it pays great and has a good benefits package. Part time workers are not treated as well or fairly as the full timers.

Student Summer Job

They only allow students to work during the summer months and pay decent hourly wages to students. It allowed me to save up money for the next school year without worrying about working full time while in school.

Pros

higher wages

Cons

Long Hours

Very Fast Paced Environment

Very fast paced environment. A lot was expected to be done in a short amount of time. Lots of food was wasted instead of being donated to food bank and less fortunate.

Deli Assistant

Around holidays there is usually plenty of hours, a lot of time part-timers are able to work full-time. They aren't very flexible with scheduling if you're new, which makes it a hard job to work when a student and they try to make you work during your classes. Minimum 25hrs for part-time, and if you can't work that must either switch to limited part-time, which means you are chosen last for shifts, or work student hours which are typically Friday - Sunday closing shifts (this is for the Deli, not sure what other departments have set up for students). Set raises depending on the amount of hours you work, makes working here during the Summer worth it if you can reach the next bracket for hours worked.

Pros

Set raises at pre-specfied hours worked

Cons

Semi-inflexible schedule
