All in all a great place to work
FRONT END ASSISTANT (Former Employee) - Grande Prairie Alberta - 27 January 2023
It’s a fantastic place to work if you wanna be busy and like to be busy. I lost 70 pounds after working there so it’s also great for weight loss if you wanna lose weight.

Monotonous
Supervisor (Current Employee) - Boisbriand, QC - 25 January 2023
People are great, the job can get very monotonous and draining. Never have days off together so the work life balance is rather poor. Management is disorganized and there is lack of communication throughout the echelons.

Security
Marketer (Current Employee) - Toronto, ON - 25 January 2023
There is fair job security with them as they are a huge company worldwide. culture is great and employees are generally happy. Benefits and pay advancement is good and you have plenty of opportunities to move up as they promote internally.
Pros
Diversity and flexibility
Cons
Micromanagement

Very good place to work
Seasonal employee (Former Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 25 January 2023
You get a free membership for the duration of your work, even if you're seasonal. The only downside is they revoke your membership unless it's paid for when your employment is terminated. You're also guaranteed a minimum of 25 hours per week, even for part time and seasonal employees.
Pros
Free membership, guaranteed hours
Cons
Seasonal employees may not always return

Great pay for relatively easy work.
If you manage to be employed by Costco then you will be treated to relatively good pay for pretty simple work. Benefits and RPP are pretty nice for just being a stocker

Decent
Tire Technician (Former Employee) - Okotoks, AB - 24 January 2023
Worked in tire shop, was decent for the most part. Management was good except for one supervisor on a power trip. Lots of room to move up. Free food some days.

Good Benefits, Disorganized and Chaotic Everywhere Else
Night Merchant (Current Employee) - Kelowna, BC - 23 January 2023
There are only a few pros. Good benefits, twice yearly raises for full timers, and you get experience by learning other departments. There are mostly cons otherwise. The work place is toxic. Cliquey especially on front end and in the merch departments, there is always someone talking behind your back. Communication between managers and employees is a constant struggle. Part timers are required to work short shifts 5 days per week, its a struggle to get more hours even outside of their home department. Every department is short staffed. There is too much expectation put on the already small group of merchandisers. Very few newcomers stick around more than a few weeks. Avoid working here. You will be happier elsewhere.
Pros
Good benefits, opportunities to learn in other departments, raises for full timers
Cons
Short staffed, toxic work environment, poor communication, poor management

Slow paced can be stressful
Stocker (Current Employee) - Burnaby, BC - 17 January 2023
putting things in place basically, sometimes heavy things. Management is alright, co workers are friendly. Hours can be weird like 5 in the morning sometimes.

Jobs at Costco Wholesale
Nepotism is Rampant
Administrator (Former Employee) - Ottawa, ON - 17 January 2023
Mean, rude and unrealistic. Dating drama amongst managers and always catty gossip in the lunchroom. No accommodation for people with disabilities and, it felt like high school all over again.

The best work experience, so much fun
Cashier (Former Employee) - Scarborough, ON - 17 January 2023
The best job, amazing team, every day was a challenge. One of my regrets was not staying there and completing the management program and becoming a lead.

Bad management
Retail Merchandiser (Former Employee) - Markham, ON - 16 January 2023
Work pace is good. makes time go by fast. can be physically demanding.Management on the other hand is very unprofessional (Ive had seen managers at each others faces, screaming at each other pointing fingers at each others chest while on the floor for all the employees to witness). They also change our schedule on a daily (we can only see our schedule via an app that is very glitchy). They passed along some turkeys to staff except seasonal workers ( and the rest of the turkey inventory was given to “Charity”. I guess you can say seasonal workers were basically a nobody there. at least at the store were I was at. Perks? Membership was canceled the moment i hang up the phone from my manager who told me that they are canceling our seasonal contract after weeks of no work schedule.
Pros
Nothing
Cons
Imo, The management team that I was under are either power tripping or playing favourites.

Productive
Shipper and Receiver (Former Employee) - Airdrie, AB - 14 January 2023
I worked here for a a long time ive seen a lot of Bs here, Actually the job is easy but the co workers/supervisor is super toxic ! If they dont like you they will talk alot at your back and when you are not around , jealousy and spreading false rumor also circulate the warehouse because of that issues there's a lot of employee turn overs. They work so fast as if they were so high. Managers and HR can't do anything because there's a favoritism. Overall benefits and pay is good. Gettin a fulltime job is hard because of seniority system.
Pros
free lunch
Cons
toxic culture

Management is not fair and preferential treatment is still rampant
Staff (Current Employee) - Canada - 11 January 2023
The management department is the main source of stress and they are manipulative and they sort to intimidation and gaslighting once they listen to your concerns or complaints. The amount of micromanagement would make you feel powerless and almost too careful what you say or do at work which makes it hard to enjoy and have fun at work. The people in management too have double standards when it comes to their policy making and how they exercise their power. They also don’t promote people to FT positions regardless of how many years you’ve worked for them because they want to take advantage of the part time workers. In my experience, they don’t treat workers fairly and most of the time they’re biased. They treated unfairly because I got suspended while the other person didn’t get suspended because they treated his case lightly compared to mine and the other person’s wrongdoings were also tolerated for years without any repercussions.
Pros
Benefits
Cons
Poor management team

Not Terrible
Front end assistant/ Lot (Former Employee) - Mississauga, ON - 31 December 2022
It definitely wasn’t the most interesting job in the world but it had its purpose. You are simply there so complete simple tasks. Communication between management was not strong and no job security as many people laid off in groups unexpectedly.
Pros
Free dinners around the holidays
Cons
Break to early

Good people, ok pay and benefits.
Supervisor (Current Employee) - Abbotsford, BC - 30 December 2022
People are good to work with. Management is a joke. Pay and benefits are good for what you do. Room for advancement as a supervisor or manager. Shifts are mostly closing when first starting with mid week days off. Raises are based on hours worked and once at top rate you get bonus every 6 months. Hard workers are expected to carry the work load while slackers are left alone and can’t be bothered with. Overall not a bad place to work.
Pros
Good pay for what you do.
Cons
Not much room for advancement.
