great place to work
Was with cook for 4 months and enjoyed the work and the crew. the work was inconsistent. We worked very hard for three weeks and than laid up at pork side for weeks doing maintenance. The crew was delightful and fun to be with. Ship yard maintenance was done ten minutes from my home, which was great.

Horrible pay working for worse People
Don't expect the hourly wage you were told when hired. Also do not expect to have any sort of management. "Poo" flows downhill here, and is shuffled around a lot. If you want to run around with your head cut off, for below told wages, hear scrutiny from 40 year olds who still home, this is the place to be.
Pros
Working on the water
Cons
Almost everything

Don't work here
It seemed like it was going to be a good place to work but after starting things quickly changed. Staff was very rude and treat you like you are stupid and can't hear. Management for the most part were nice with the exception of yelling at the staff sometimes
Pros
Set schedule Monday to Friday
Cons
Low pay for the work, no proper training, fellow staff are very rude to new employees

Good company
Good company to work for, no complaints. Deciding to pursue other endeavors. Dynamic, fast paced in all outdoor elements. Excellent job for a younger person looking for a challenge

A demanding job depending on your work ethics
A typical day up , dressed , and out the door for six am.Arrive at work for six-thirty to seven for start time.Gear up and be on floor to be sent to your work area.Depending on how well and accurate you do the job will depend on how many different areas they train you for and send you to.Fifteen minute breaks every 2 or three hours depending on the orders to be filled. Not paid half hour for lunch.A normal day twelve hours.seven to seven pm .not so normal day seven am to ten thirty pm depending orders and conditions. Allowed to pick up extra shift when available. Seven to ten days rotating through a two week period based on individuals abilities and performances.Conditons-- strong fish odor, cold wet, standing on grates, rubber mates, cement flooring through out entire shift . Depending on jobs being performed repetition on one body part or another. pinboning hands, the binns hands back and neck. packing hands back legs and feet as well as arms even when done properly.majority of staff and colleagues awesome to work for and with no matter the shift, A B or Nights.
Pros
work close to home .
Cons
Down time, repetiton, weather and environment(majority of time all normal for job )

the work is long and hard but you have some down time when sailing .
it's a fun and outgoing job with travel and always being on the water you get to see some amazing things and some not so amazing .

the job pays around 50k a year or more if there is work.

55k for harvest captains plus truck allowance cell phone gas card and credit card .

there is no job sustainability and the wages are low and they give you time and a half from minimum after your 88 hours for two weeks which means if you already make alittle more than 15$ an hour your not getting anything extra but your normal wage . caped around 19 an hour if your with Kelly's cove but a not known amount but lower closer to 17 in true north harvesting division. also danger pay for Kelly's but not true north but only on the day you go out and it's not considered all that fit out side . but it's not even 30 cents an hour more so who overly cares . and job advancement happens alot faster in Kelly's cove . they will block your transfers though because they are always short handed seen more people come and go then I have fingers and toes. in 3 years .

the work is long and hard and very time consuming the weather is freezing cold and if you get sea sick not for you the clothing provided barley keeps the cold out I mean you still can't feel your face feet hands and may lose feeling in other body parts . with random start and ending times everyday your work schedule is always changing and have to call in multiple times a day to find out about work . and if you already talked to them 10 times that day but missed there call for real and work started an hour and a half after you were notified.
Pros
hotels and ferrys as well as some food allowance, some what survivable clothing for conditions paid for., decent management, and if you like traveling some times its not bad
Cons
not reliable for hours . stuck under the wrong department because of budgets .

Bad overnight management.
If you are outgoing, sexist, racist, judgemental and love gossip this is the place for you! If you are not popular, watch out they'll make you quit. They don't care what it takes, even if it means working you to death while others that are more social can sit on the job. Also beware management can/say/do whatever they want at that place and you have no say.
Pros
Free boots!
Cons
If you last long enough.

Great Family Owned Company
Cooke's is a great company - working here is comfortable and employees are polite and friendly. Typical day is pretty standard in the accounts payable field: there is lots of data entry and processing of invoices as well as incoming and outgoing communication with vendors. The job is not hard if you are effective in time management and personal deadlines. The only drawback is compensation which is minimal.
Pros
Friendly & Comfortable Work Environment
Cons
Compensation

Cook Aquaculture is the leading employer in our area. They offer consistent employment hours and great benefit packages.
Hard work, long hours, cold conditions, processing line work requires stamina, ability to work as a team and communication skills. Supervisors are working under a fast paced environment.
I did very well, and made lots of friends,, and earned respect from my supervisors as well as coworkers.
Pros
Lots of hours, benefits, dental, holiday pay, maternity etc.

Great place IF your a TFW
--If you enjoy working for barely above minimum wage, this is the place for you!

--If you like to watch supervisors stab each other in back, or even get in on the action, this is the place for you!

--if you enjoy being cold and wet for 12+hrs a day, and not being able to understand 3/4 of the people there, because if you not a TFW then YOU are the minority, This is the place for you!
Pros
none
Cons
too many to list here!

Unique work environment
I enjoy working ay Cooke Aqua. They offer a unique job in the saltwater division that offers some a little different each day. However, due to the lack of decent wages, one os required to work hundreds of hours to make up for lack of wage thus affecting the work/ home life balance which is basically zero.
