Middle management mostly good, upper management interfering
System Administrator (Former Employee) - Greater Sudbury, ON - 29 January 2020
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedThe organisation is bogged down in putting out fires and interferecne from the top.
Shuffling of directors and ego games made the office unbearable- constanty harassed by personell who feared losing their jobs while unloading their workload on others to get ahead.
Mid management very understanding and made excellent accommodations for various work needs.
Pros
attentive to workplace accommodations
Cons
work loads not being completed in a timely manner- constant shifting agenda

Fun place to work
Student Recruitment and Services Representative (Current Employee) - Canada - 28 May 2020
Its a good place to work, where you know you are helping others. you spend your day answering inquiries from students and researching options for them , to find what programs and courses they like

Good job
Student Services Representative (Former Employee) - Kincardine, ON - 2 December 2019
Too bad contact north doesn't get more funding from the government. It's enjoyable and meaningful work but when you don't have a lot of resources at your disposal it's hard to make much of a difference in people's lives.

Not many hours
Centre Assistant (Former Employee) - Keswick, ON - 16 October 2019
Contact north is a low paying job with minimum hours and very little support. It is impossible to live on this income. They don't hire full time, only part time.

Areas for improvement
- Fair pay for job
No real opportunities for growth within
Student Services (Former Employee) - Iroquois Falls, ON - 22 May 2019
Dull- I didn't find the job challenges you to expand, nor did it offer any new opportunities for growth.
It's nice if you are working on your own educational studies at the same time as it gives you access to complete your own work.
Pros
Able to work on your own educational growth
Cons
Boring- many dead periods.

Worst employer EVER
Online Learning Recruitment Officer (Former Employee) - Ontario - 22 February 2019
Think that this job is going to be good because it's "funded by the Government of Ontario?" Think again - they will bribe you with what sounds like a good wage, and then after deductions, you're basically at minimum. This job has a terrible salary, management, culture, and security. There is no job security. There have been several complainants of wrongful dismissal, which have been proven to have merit. Everyone is terrible at replying to emails, no one truly cares, and every single person who works this job learns why Contact North really is the worst employer out there. Prepare to be heavily micromanaged, and have your opinion be unheard even though you are the person who knows the job, clients and location best. Your superiors will still act like they know everything better.
Pros
Nothing
Cons
Extremely terrible pay, micromanagement, no respect, no job security

a job to retire with
Online Learning Recruitment Officer (Former Employee) - ON - 23 January 2019
If you like routine this is a job for you, there is some diversity to your day as the locations change but its pretty much the same thing every day.
I learned a lot from this position, however, I am not a fan of routine.
Pros
great work schedule as your plan your own day
Cons
management

Nice people and a good idea, but a bit of a hot mess
Student Services Representative (Former Employee) - Ontario - 12 September 2018
Still some kinks to work out. Training was pretty slapdash, hours are far too few for anyone to stay on a long time. At my branch, the supervisor was an odd duck, not great with people in a role that requires good people skills.
I think the location I was in didn't really require them. It was a lot of sitting around trying to find work to do, which for some reason, required 3 employees at terrible pay rates.
Pros
Nice people, flexible hours
Cons
terrible pay, bad training, ineffective management

Review of Contact North

Contact North is a relaxing flexible place to work. Helping people with their educational goals is very rewarding. The hardest part of this job is there isn't enough hours.

Not good place to work
Student service representative (Former Employee) - Gore Bay, ON - 20 May 2017
Never do you get a raise. Not enough hours . Supervisor hired is very bad at her job. No follow through. Should not be in a supervisory role. Supervisor is not professional. Lets her own personal feeling get in the way of being fair to the staff member that she is overseeing.
Cons
Minimum wage forever. No one gets even the smallest raise.

Great company however more needs to be done for their supporting staff.
Center Assistant (Current Employee) - Cornwall, ON - 23 February 2013
Company has a great concept to enable people to continue their education. A typical work day is researching information for clients, answering questions by phone and email, greeting and asssiting client maintaining data base updates. My immediate supervisor at the site is a charm to work with.
Pros
some free courses
Cons
limited working hours
