Housekeeper (Former Employee) – Orangeville, ON – 29 September 2017
Staff is overworked and under payed. Everything is unorganized and nothing ever works. The kind of company that will fire you 5 days before you're probation period is over for going to head office about issues or even showing any emotions about the job.
Maintenance Tec 2 (Former Employee) – Edmonton, AB – 30 June 2017
No team players in the departments. Management looks out for them self, and love to talk behind your back. I was given the dirties job to do and told Don't like it quit. Had to buy my own uniforms told me they would pay for them, still waiting to get paid, they only gave me 2 shirts.
Dront Desk (Former Employee) – Edmonton, AB – 30 October 2015
I've heard tons of nightmares about working for this hotel (DT Edmonton Marriott). I heard about one department head meeting, where a service had went wrong, and the entire meeting was about finding out who was to blame, instead of making sure it didn't happen again. GM runs a high-pressure environment, no one who works here is happy. Avoid it at all costs.
Poor management of all departments, horrible organizational culture.
productive, fun place to work with great pay/hours, and dental coverage.
dishwasher (Former Employee) – 1 Thornton Ct NW, Edmonton, AB – 14 October 2015
If you guessed a day at work as a dishwasher started with dishes, you would be correct. After you have a manageable amount of dishes (dishes never stop coming) you would clean the kitchen, or help prep. you had to keep an eye on the amount of dishes in the station, and wash the dishes when needed. whenever a desert item is ordered you would plate it, if short staffed that day then you would help on the line during the rush times. If you are closing, then you help with the final day cleaning of the entire kitchen instead of just you'r own area.
While working as a dishwasher for this particular concord hotel i learned to be confident in my work, and how to manage a work flow i thought was impossible. The management was great, they held everything together, and payed employees based on how much they thought we where worth. All the employees where great to work with, there was never a bad day at work caused by grumpy employees. The hardest thing i had to do was that one time i had worked nearly every day in a month because of being short staffed. The most enjoyable part was that the atmosphere was friendly, and it was easy to get along well with anyone.
