Residential Counsellor -Team Leader (Current Employee) - Ajax, ON - 29 August 2023

Providing support for residents personal development and daily programming. Reading the communication book/binder at the start of shift.Medication administration and coordination of health/medication appointment.Preparing breakfast/lunch.Providing orientation and/or support to co-workers, student, volunteer and family.What I enjoy most at Community Living Ajax is having managers that support me in reaching my goals and co-workers that are able to work as a team even through challenges.The hardest part of my job as team lead is getting staff to follow through on their tasks/chores and job responsibilities.What I like about my job is the respect and support from staff and management.At this time working as a transition support worker - team lead and reflecting upon the past three years of the pandemic and furthering my career and experience I am looking forward for a new start and commitment where I can make a bigger difference in providing support for people with developmental needs, behavioural and mental health.

Pros

Going to the cottage with the residents and co-workers during the summer.

Spending all day in court with transitional clients

Good place to work

As a current part time worker, there are many opportunities to pick up shifts that work with my schedule. I have a great work/life balance and the people that I support are the reason I never dread a day going to work.

paid mileage, easy to book off time

Steady workplace

RESIDENTIAL COUNSELOR- TEAM LEAD (Former Employee) - Oakville, ON - 7 March 2022

The industry as a whole doesn’t have the best interest of the people supported in mind which is very difficult. But Community living is not the worst in terms of supporting individuals, over all it is an okay place to work.

Love working for community living. It’s a very relaxing job and it has its moments of challenges but it keeps the job interesting. You can easily grow your career here.
