Fulfilled a need

Indeed featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
The job interview was painless and straight forward. The hours were set. Because it was housekeeping there was no flexibility. The rooms needed cleaning by check in time. It was a lot of hard work. The rooms could be extremely messy and you still had a time limit to clean them. Your body got sore muscles where you did not even know you had muscles until you got used to job. My work location was unionized but not managed well by union. Our wage was never going to increase to cost of living. Pandemic brought even more uncertainty to job hours.

Very poor benefit, the owner was just interested in making profit and not concerned about the welfare of the employees

To be honest, the comfort inn is a franchise so I want to believe each comfort inn is different. Here, the owner was just concerned about what the sales of each day was and the profit at the end of the month. They were never concerned about the welfare of the workers. Honestly people only stayed if they had something to gain like their PR otherwise the turnover was alot. The only benefit was prescription and dental up to 80% and you only get refunded quarterly, it’s crazy.

Cons

Low pay, poor benefits

Independent shifts

Understaffed, front desk staff is expected to do laundry, mop floors, serve breakfast and be security guards. Management isnt given enough power to make decisions. Part time hours are only available. Guests are usually great to deal with and the training from choice hotels is helpful.

Pros

8 hour shifts and choice training

Cons

Ineffective management, absent owners and poor pay without raises

Ok

Nice employers, caring & understanding. So far I never got my 3 month raise they said I was gonna get in my interview. Kept asking but never got it. I don’t know if you can advance with this company either, doesn’t seem like it & no benefits at all.

I love working there

I love everyone that works their teamwork, for the most part, they don,t like changes fast paste they don,t say a good job even if you are doing a good job, which I think it bad if you treat your employees good they will do good for your company and a little praise goes a long way something to think about

Pros

free lunch

Cons

do your best

Great place to work!!

The bosses are awesome. Your coworkers are the best. There's room for growth. You aren't stuck in a dead end job. Everyone is great. The benefits are great.

Horrible place to work for

Terrible place to work at and was short staffed all the time. The hotel management didn't care about the plight of the housekeeping department, who had to clean 40 rooms per day. The standards to work there were non existent, and there was zero structure, at times new employees (who had been working only a few months) would be training new staff members. One positive was that some staff members were friendly, however the quality of cleaning was lazy. Most people didn't like the job and there was a huge turn over; monthly people were getting hired or just walking away from the job. This is a precarious job: no benefits, no room for social mobility, and expect to be over burden with many rooms to clean, especially during peak season. The new managements sucks and plays favorites; some people are given checkouts, while the favorite staff are only given stay overs. DON'T WORK FOR THE HOTEL!

Productive and Good Place to Start Out

It was a really good place for me to start out so that way I could get something on my resume and look for bigger jobs, and better paid work. I would suggest only for people to work there for a short time.

Front Desk Fun

Great ppl to work with, pay I’d expect to be a little more considering the responsibilities expected to job title. Competitive rates to ensure receiving incentives on Cheque was fun

Rushed to clean rooms, no team work

Minimum pay, 20 minutes to clean per room but they expect perfection, hours are part time, no team work, they have benefits but must have the expected amount of hours to qualify

Pros

Benefits but only if you manage to get the min hours required to qualify

Cons

Not enough hours, rushed to clean rooms but expect perfection

Hard pass

Management sucks, the hours suck, they're long, you're forced to work even when your shift is over. Short staffed all the time, missing appointments or family gatherings because we are not allowed to leave if our cross shift doesn't show up... not a place I'd recommend.

Pros

You can do what you want when it's dead

Cons

long hours, managment isn't good
