Operates like they do not want to grow
IT (Current Employee) –  Toronto, ON10 April 2019
No work/life balance
Expectation can change over a day or two
You may get hired for one set of task and end up doing something else
With limited to zero support you need to be ready to deliver
it looks nothing like above until you join and experience it yourself!

might be small difference team to team but all above is org-wide culture.

** the whole application revolves on a private system which founder wouldn't give access to ANYONE!
Pros
They used to have beers on fridays
Cons
poor management and not transparent

The Titanic
Former Employee (Former Employee) –  Toronto, ON24 January 2019
Coinsquare is a company that had great potential but has failed terribly due to their extremely poor management and appointment of a laughable team of senior managers. They've created such a toxic culture through constant power struggles, being inept and not listening to employee feedback it's almost comical.

The best parallel to this would really be the Titanic except the fact that they didn't try to avoid the iceberg at all even when they saw it. The management team was just incapable and the company was just tied down by them.

There used to be many of toronto's best and brightest working at coinsquare. Used to be. No regard for quality or doing things properly and lack of true leadership have caused a huge amount of exists and also a random purge in the summer of 2018 of 13% of the workforce.

If you're thinking about joining coinsquare, i'd say run far and run fast.

Poor Management
Developer (Former Employee) –  Toronto, ON12 December 2018
The CEO is biased in decision making - not putting the company first. Conflicting priorities that make individual's jobs tougher, along with management's unrealistic expectations. Underpaid compared to competitors (other crypto exchanges, other tech. They do not care about website related issues. They have had bugs and errors on the platform for over a year, but only care about growth and not the product or the customer.

Poised to be great - still room to grow
Director, Client Success (Former Employee) –  Toronto6 September 2018
Coinsquare has the potential to be great - my suggestion from a work point of view would be to ensure there is clear direction and alignment on what each team's goals and objectives are, how they will be measured for success, why it's important and an acknowledgement of what might prevent success.

The culture is young and evolving. Management is doing all the right things to foster a good culture, however it seems forced and not organic - which is feedback that is being relayed from those in and outside the organization. This is a by-product of growing as fast as they did and eventually I'm sure this will work its way out.

Again, feedback from those still in and out of the org - all the right things are being said, are being attempted - however the authenticity behind it and the overall support/infrastructure to accomplish a defined set of objectives is an area that will continue to require greater attention.

Good company to join, don't be blinded by the lure of the industry/space and be sure to ask some pointed questions about your expectations and the support you'll receive to accomplish your objectives.

Company values and environment have changed dramatically
Unknown (Current Employee) –  Toronto, ON24 July 2018
Appears the company has grown too quickly and is currently unsustainable due to the bear market in the crypto world. This is the reason that recently 20 people have been laid off, despite them stating it was due to "company restructure". Very early on it was great place to work, however it quickly changed when the market wasn't going their way. Everyone who works there are great people, however a lot of people seem to be well out of their depth and have maybe been thrust into positions they didn't expect early on.
