Management from the top down is a joke
DRIVER (Current Employee) –  Phoenix, AZ21 January 2018
They don't take care about their employees. They expect you to bend over backwards to help the company but as soon as you do something they don't like they throw you under the bus. Lowest paid in the industry, expensive insurance, no company march 401k, look for every reason to take your safety bonus, the management from the top down is a joke.
Pros
Always have work
Cons
Lowest pay in the industry, dont care about you, no company match 401k, high priced ins, Management from top down!!!!

Professional Driver (Current Employee) –  Houston, TX31 December 2017
you are just a number and are not valued and will be under the watchful eye of the cameras that are in all trucks and you will not be able to use your cell phone while working and you will work about 60 or more hours week

Truck Driver Class A (Current Employee) –  San Antonio, TX17 December 2017
I learned the ins and outs of hauling various hazmat fuels. I have trained many of the drivers there in how to properly load, transport, and unload fuels that we haul. The pay is fair and we also have safety and longevity bonuses to incentivize drivers.
Pros
the equipment is good
Cons
some loads pay better than others

Fuel Truck Driver (Current Employee) –  San Antonio, TX7 December 2017
Night shift or Day shift, your choice after working nights and proving yourself.
Management is hands off unless you consider Dispatchers management.
Your complete shift is usually scheduled the night before, so you have an idea what the next day will be like.
Once you have earned an assigned rig, the job gets even easier.
Pros
An Appreciative atmosphere, cookouts, useful gifts from management, support
Cons
Some high traffic days can grind on you, especially if you have some specified delivery times for some loads

CDL Class A Driver (Former Employee) –  Corpus Christi, TX3 December 2017
they pay by the load and the amount of loads tends to be few. There is no consistency to the pay. you might get 40 bucks for a load and the next time you do the same load its 32 or 34. The pay structure is non-existent, they don't explain it to you or provide it in writing. it literally what ever they decide to pay you that week.

The most enjoyable part of the job
Fleet Manager (Former Employee) –  San Antonio, TX24 November 2017
Co workers are great, from the mechanics to the drivers, the staff makes the job experience great at Coastal Transport. I stayed for 10 years, and most of the senior drivers, and managers had over 20 years of seniority with the company.
Pros
Good work ethics
Cons
Poor pay and not enough chances for career advancement.

The pay sucks, but other than that it is a good company to work for. There is a lot of flexibility if family issues come up, and most of the people you work with are awesome.

Driver (Current Employee) –  Hearne, TX21 September 2017
They always want you to work 12-15 hours a day. Dispatch gets in trouble for letting anyone off before they reach 12 hours a day. Pay is definitely not up to par for the hours you put in. Management is good and will let you have unpaid days off if you request it. Trucks are fairly well taken care of but most trailers are from the 1970s and 80s.
Pros
Good management
Cons
Long hours, poor pay, old trailers

dispatching fuel trucks and estimating amt of fuel to send management was up and down, managers came and went. they did not last very long. most enjoyable part was gaining a relationship with the people driving the fuel trucks.

Editor/Dispatcher (Former Employee) –  San Diego, CA9 June 2017
Enjoyed my time there. Was able to accomplish some of the goals I set. Found the stress level was not too over powering. The desires of the company are great to behold. The drivers, after training, were great to work with. Customer service was the main goal here. Be it a Supplier, Shipper or customer.
Pros
Customer service
Cons
Time windows for deliveries were tight sometimes
