Featured review
Closing the Gap Healthcare Group selected this as a representative reviewIf you want to join a company that values teamwork and integrity then this is the place. From Day 1 I've been impressed with the way the managers and executive really care about their staff and are supportive to address their concerns. They offer flexibility when you need it. They are constantly driving innovation and have grown their business because always deliver. I strongly recommend Closing the Gap in you want to be with a company that you can be proud to work for.

Insights into Closing the Gap Healthcare Group
What people like
- General feeling of work happiness
- Ability to meet personal goals
- Clear sense of purpose
Toxic and unorganized
Care team coordinator (Former Employee) - Guelph, ON - 1 August 2023
The job comes with responsibilities but cooperation by the coworkers are minimal. If you show up for 2 months, not even have to be trained, you should be knowing everything. They say they invite us to a team but to the opposite team within the office I believe. You are on your own.
Pros
Hybrid work
Cons
Guelph office

Working as a nurse in community healthcare is a unique and rewarding career. I love being able to make connections with my clients and contribute to making a difference in their lives. Closing the Gap Healthcare provides great benefits, advocates for their staff and tries to ensure a good work/life balance.

Independent hours but lousy management
Personal Support Worker (Current Employee) - Waterloo, ON - 3 July 2023
I love working with the clients but the management needs to all be fired and start from scratch if you do not care about your hours and your social life than work here

Amazing Team!
Care Team Coordinator (Current Employee) - St. Thomas, ON - 28 June 2023
Genuinely work alongside the best frontline team possible. Fun work environment with staff who work together, communicate effectively and have the clients best interest at heart. They go above and beyond on a daily basis to ensure client care is received in the most holistic way possible. The team in engaged and has thrived immensely.

No communication and bad management
Personal Support Worker (Current Employee) - Waterloo, ON - 6 June 2023
Management has no communication with staff. No travel time between clients often. One week you will be busy and the next week you will barely have anyone. There's no consistency of who you see.

Crazy place.
Personal Support Worker (PSW) (Former Employee) - Guelph, ON - 26 May 2023
The infrastructures were minimum. For example, clients; who did not have a hospital bed had problems with lower extremities paralysis or vertebrae issues. Transferring clients is too hard for one person, and there may be a high chance of back injury to PSW. Also, between clients didn't have transport time and they expect to stay one hour with clients. Hard to manage time. The manager didn't consider our thoughts.

Amazing team!
Clinic Nurse (Current Employee) - Mississauga, ON - 15 May 2023
One of the best places to grow as both a nurse and person. They train you on a different level, you are left feeling confidant in your skills and fulfilled in that you as a nurse are giving your patients the best of you. This job incorporates, and fosters an environment where nurses can educate, heal and grown.
Pros
Strong learning environment

You will learn a lot
Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) (Former Employee) - Toronto, ON - 2 January 2023
Overall was a good job. Good for new grads, you will learn a lot of skills that will help to succeed in the hospital, if you choose. There are many opportunities for professional development and learning. Clinics are easily accessible.
Pros
Lots of opportunities for learning and growth, no Night Shift, clinics accesible by TTC
Cons
Low pay (compared to hospital), long hours

Health care where people take the CARE part seriously
Social Worker (Current Employee) - Grey Bruce - 28 September 2022
I wasn't used to workplaces where new employees have a voice and new ideas are valued as much as or more so than routine and tradition. I'm really happy I found Closing the Gap. I like my job, I don't dread Monday mornings. It sounds like things can be different in different regions, but where I am everyone is friendly and seems to really care - both for patients and colleagues.
Pros
Flexible hours, professional development
Cons
Most people work from home so it's can be hard to connect

Really nice people
Marketing Assistant (Former Employee) - Mississauga Valley, ON - 25 September 2022
I loved working with the team. Company culture is good but the work itself was okay. Pay could be better for the amount of work you do. Management is caring and helpful though.

Do not work here
Personal Support Worker (PSW) (Current Employee) - Guelph, ON - 30 August 2022
Guelph office management is horrendous. They talk about other psw personal business… gossip. They preach “support ur coworkers”, yet they are the WORST! You have a sick family member, well 100$ says they will tell at least one of ur clients.. talk about confidentiality… Do not work here unless you're despite and need money. Schedulers will guilt u and beg you to open ur availability, then give u horrible hours. Ie, 8-11am then 3-5pm then 7-10pm. YOU WILL WORK ALL DARN DAY. No balance unless you work in the office. They DO NOT CARE, its all about the bottom line (money, money , money). yet staff is paid minimum. And clients pay the price. Dont even waste your time, would rather work at tim Hortons. Save ur student debt.

Bad management
Health Care Assistant (Former Employee) - Guelph, ON - 28 June 2022
Look elsewhere that may appreciate their staff. Clients needs are not met or valued. PSWs are mistreated by office staff. Reports go ignored. Driving for miles in between clients, Too many gaps in scheduled clients

Warm and welcoming atmosphere in workplace.
Continuing Care Assistant (Former Employee) - Halifax, NS - 13 May 2022
I'd easily recommend any PSW’s to join this company. I had a great experience working with Closing the gap healthcare and I would never mind returning to this organisation.

Keeping staff starts with better management and supervisors appreciating you instead of grinding you down to dirt
Continuing Care Assistant (Former Employee) - Halifax, NS - 9 May 2022
Keeping staff starts with better management and supervisors appreciating you instead of grinding you down to dirt. Employers don’t realize there is 100 other places to go to and that’s why staff leave easily. Starts with respect

Crabs in a Bucket
Management (Current Employee) - Mississauga, ON - 21 April 2022
No one tries to help you. Everyone is just looking out for themselves. If you are having a hard time with something you need to figure it out on your own because you will not have that support. The pay is definitely not worth it. This company straddles the lines of ethics and does things that a normal clear thinking company wouldn’t do. I guess that’s what happens when you give authority to people who aren’t even qualified.
Pros
Some staff are nice
Cons
Low pay, high turnover, no support. Possibly putting your license in jeopardy

Terrible
CSA (Former Employee) - St. Thomas, ON - 17 March 2022
Co workers are absolutely amazing! Clients are amazing management is terrible!! Management is no we’re to be found when you needed them. When asked to complete something it usually got brushed under the rug.. management didn’t really have any training and when talking to clients they didn’t seem compassionate as to why the clients called.

Worth it but not long term.
Registered Practical Nurse (Current Employee) - Guelph, ON - 22 February 2022
Good company to work for but there's no moving up. Communication with managers is non existent but the pay is good. Definitely worth working here for the experience but I wouldn't say it's somewhere you want to stay long term.
