The most useful review selected by IndeedWhat is the best part of working at the company? It’s great pay and it’s not extremely hard labour What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Not know when you will be working again. Mine was seasonal work and I didn’t even come close to the hours I was told that would be available to me. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Very friendly and professional What is a typical day like for you at the company? Wake up eat and off to work. 6 days on one off. 12 hour shifts does not leave a lot of time for getting personal stuff done.

Terrible place to work
Driver (Current Employee) - Manitoba - 3 November 2023
If you want to be lied to daily, and feel like you’re just filling a seat, then apply here. There’s no where to move up, never know if there’s going to be work. A class 1 driver here makes less money than a labourer with no license in other provinces. Your just a number here, you have no value to the company, they can replace you anytime.

What is the best part of working at the company? Getting paid weekly when you have work What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Most stressful part is never known what you’re doing what time and never gonna dispatch properly. And half of the information never given to you. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Very stressful everybody trying to get the work and be running after the supervisor What is a typical day like for you at the company? Disorganized no communication drives me mad nobody talks everybody’s secret secret, trying to keep the jobs. Needs to be a dispatch every day going out and not half the information.

Very Toxic Place to Work
Operator/Driver (Former Employee) - Fort Hills, AB - 3 September 2023
You’re just a number and the only way to climb the ladder and/or work in management is to not care about the workers under you. Management only care about themselves.

Promises, promises. Nothing fulfilling.
Shutdown worker (Former Employee) - Spruce Grove, AB - 26 August 2023
They'll get the excitement in you going by making everything seem really important. Get these training modules done so we can get you to Edmonton for the in class training. They'll pay for hotels and pay for LOA and oooh this is going to be happening really quick! What they don't tell you is that $40 a day loa is all you'll get for every day you sit in a hotel (can you pay your bills and eat three meals if you don't have a kitchen on $40/day?) Then maybe in a week or more they're going to send you to camp. You'll work a full week and see a big fat cheque! Then you'll work less and less until the real work starts for about 18 days. My avg cheque in 2-1/2 months was $900. My biggest was $2100. You might get laid off. You might not. You might go back to a hotel and sit around for $40/day. They have a turn over in dispatch and their tiny little office like nothing I've seen before. And some of the people who left were actually trying to do their best for the employees. That says something. Take your chances.
Pros
Paid to gain most of your Oil Field tickets
Cons
Everything else

Solids Control Technician (Current Employee) - Red Deer, AB - 10 August 2023
As a current employee, also as a new employee, I was pleasently suprised with how well management works with their field technicians. All the staff are easy to get along with and do their jobs well. The company tries to ensure tou are prepared for your job and gives you ample information to ensure you know everything required of you. Company has excellent benefits and helps you plan for retirement and your future.

Great pay but no job security or structure. Wouldn't recommend any long term plans here. You're just a number and nobody cares to answer any questions you may have.

HR Team is based on Favoritism
Senior HR Business Partner (Former Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 13 July 2023
Clean Harbors is a wonderful place and does wonderful work. Operations has great good leaders and dedicated workers. HR on the other hand was a nightmare - Directors were moved up because VP liked them not that they knew what they were doing - and if you tried to assist with your experience you were looked down upon - and if you went off for any medical reason be prepared to be terminated on your return

Productive, safety first company
Field Supervisor IS (Former Employee) - Ft. McMurray, AB - 17 June 2023
Unlike most oilfield work this is guaranteed hours. For the most part our site had great crews to lead. Like most big companies the bureaucracy can be a bit much at times. They offer competitive wages, a comprehensive safety program and very good training. The hardest part was the ever changing standards/needs of the client. With the big S continuously cutting back while still demanding the same level of service and safety it made for a challenging work environment. I left on good terms and would definitely recommend CH as a decent company to work for.
