Labourer (Former Employee) - Hantsport, NS - 31 December 2021
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedBasically if you're expecting to be new aged and work to your speed and happiness you will not. You earn your wage there. It's outdated and run down but they make it work and there are no better people anywhere else in the world.
Pros
Good wage Nice people
Cons
Heat Long hours Hard hard work at times

An excellent way to learn about the company!
Bookkeeper/Administrative Assistant (Former Employee) - Hantsport, NS - 9 April 2022
This was a full time term position on a capital funding project. My supervisors were very pleasant and I did a variety of accounting tasks. The staff were very pleasant to work with. It was a great experience and I was hired for two separate term positions. Great teamwork all the way around in Accounting group!

Will pay the bills but it’s not worth it.
Operator Assistant (Former Employee) - Hantsport, NS - 29 December 2021
If you need a job to pay off some bills or save some money then CKF is an alright place to do that. Starts at $19/hr and lots of options for overtime. However, you’ll be working none stop at a machine that hasn’t been properly serviced in decades and you’ll literally be sprinting around trying to catch paper plates or berry boxes. Management doesn’t care how hard you work, they’ll speed the machine up on you anyway. Worked there for 1.5 years and hated most of my time there. Used to be a decent job a couple decades ago but the union is useless and won’t fight for a wage that keeps up with inflation. I ended up as an operator but dealing with management and the poorly working machines on a day-to-day basis isn’t worth $24/hr. If you have the option, work somewhere else. Also, they’ll tell you the schedule is 4 on, 4 off but it takes a whole year or more to get on that schedule. You’ll be working whatever 4 days/nights they need you which can really mess up your entire week.
Pros
Decent rate for not needing any experience. Lots of overtime.
Cons
Horrible management. What you’re being paid to do is not worth the rate. Repetitive work.

Production Worker (Former Employee) - Langley, BC - 17 December 2021
Styrofoam is being eliminated don’t waste your time. Management are all bullies. High hourly wage sucked away by costs of benefits and union dues. Lazy people with bad work ethics

Good people
Labourer (Former Employee) - Hantsport, NS - 10 December 2021
People on the floor are good hard workers , very hot working conditions especially in the summer months. Gatorade is a must if you are going to work here.

Please avoid this place if possible
Foreman/Supervisor (Former Employee) - Hantsport, NS - 20 October 2021
What you have here is basically a bunch of uneducated people pretending to know how to run a company. Unsafe environment and terrible working conditions. If you like being disrespected and conforming to the miserable expectations then it’s a great place for you. The union is pathetic and basically just the loudmouth and lazy employees pretending to care, the union president is just a office worker in overalls. I would recommend steering clear of this place at all costs.
Pros
A paycheck
Cons
Everything

Do Not Work Here
Temporary Worker (Current Employee) - Langley, BC - 15 August 2021
Ckf is one of the worst companies to work for. 10/10 would NOT recommend. They value profits and production more then employee health and safety. Worst management I’ve ever come across.
Pros
Wage
Cons
Every minute is counted/monitored

' Improvements today for a better tomorrow ' is the antithesis of what is practiced.
Production Worker (Former Employee) - Hantsport, NS - 30 June 2021
The poor environment for productivity often leaves you physically and mentally exhausted when it is avoidable. Given that most product lines have been made there for a long long time you'd think they'd have their operations running better than they do. However, when you look around you see the antiquated environment you see that most of the issues are unaddressed.
Pros
Good Wages and decent scheduling, worked with some decent people
Cons
Production support systems and machines are not up to task..

Good Pay, Struggling Company Culture
Shipper/Receiver (Former Employee) - Langley, BC - 1 June 2021
I was an employee at CKF for 15 years and was hired in 2006. The pay is above average for the type of work, and you'll either love or hate the 12 hour shifts. The problem with this company is the management and why I left. There is a transition going on with trying to change the culture at the Langley plant, but it is slow. Many managers are manipulative and mean spirited. It isn't uncommon for employees to be written up or fired for single transgressions of policy. Expect to be fired within your 3 month probation period for any instances of tardiness, missed shifts including sickness, and any safety infraction or missed production targets. Money is important, but sometimes money isn't enough.
Pros
Good wage and beneifts
Cons
Culture or harassment and bullying by management

To whom it may concern do not apply if you can this place is brutal to work for you are on a machine or the end of a line for 12 hours no support alarms all day and this is the good stuff this place has is a very stressful smoke filled mold growing in the trenches and walls atmosphere there is so much dust in the air your lungs will hurt and you will cough black stuff management well what can i say they seem nice in the beginning but watch out and your back cameras are there friends oh ya and your coworkers they will stab you good if the can for there benefit so if you really need a good job and you want your health look else where and do not regret your choice the employees pay two tier benefit system now do not get hurt it is a very dangerous place and always has wcb there so good luck in your choice
Pros

A productive and fast paced job
Machine Operator (Current Employee) - Langley, BC - 18 March 2021
Good place to work if your used to plants and shift work. Always good to have prior certifications such as forklift and first aid. The wage is fairly high paying and the benefits are good. They pay really good for overtime. The work can be chaotic at times but it gets easier once your used to it.
Pros
Good pay, 4 days off
Cons
12 hour shifts

Do Not Work Here Unless You Are Starving
Machine Operator (Former Employee) - Langley, BC - 27 February 2021
Worst company to work for. Very poor management. Toxic environment. Best word to describe this work is “Brutal “. Do not jam up the line otherwise you are called to the office. Very dirty environment. You have to walk on heaps of egg cartons to avoid jam ups. Stain and sprain everyday but do not miss work otherwise you are fired. In short Do Not Work Here Unless You have no other choice.
Pros
Good pay and benefits but you don’t get unless 18 months after
Cons
Poor HR and Managers. Toxic environment

Hard work, good pay and benefits
Machine Operator (Current Employee) - Langley, BC - 11 January 2021
This company is working hard to make the place safe. COVID processes are very strong and company is strict about enforcement. Some managers are more strict than others but that happens. I find most are very responsive when you ask questions. You do your job and stay out of trouble and management leaves you alone.
Pros
good pay and benefits and 4 days off
Cons
12 hour shifts

Packer
Packer (Former Employee) - Rexdale, ON - 10 July 2020
This is pathetic job I have ever done in my whole life. I have experienced in Factories of two years but this place is disastrous. Please guys don’t go with the salary. Temperature is too hot around 40 degree. All are robots in there. In Orientation they will tell you eventually you will operate machines but they give you whole machines in just 2 weeks and that is unsafe too. Your hands can go in there.

Do your research before you work at CKF Inc.
SUPPLY CHAIN COORDINATOR (Former Employee) - Hantsport, NS - 17 June 2020
Sadly...There is a reason they keep looking for new hires all the time in all plants.
Please take time to interview former employees and research previous human rights claims; unsafe work environment claims; discrimination claims before you make the move to this company.

Cancer of a plant manager
Packer (Current Employee) - Rexdale, ON - 10 May 2020
Typical day at CKF is hide and seek from plant manager.
Keep your head down and don’t have eye contact. Smiles in your face and stabs you in the back. I try to keep busy on the machine so I don’t have to say goodMorning to him or interact with him.
Will fire you if you’re not doing what you’re supposed to be doing.
Everyone is looking for another job after the pandemic!
