The COV future is at the hands of the Local Political will. The COV is only (1) of (3) City's that still employs a labor force. The threat of privatization is always prevalent

Yes. They require a criminal background check and I'd recommend getting it before you apply because it takes a while for the police department to process it and the city of Vancouver will not hire you until it is done.

For aquatics department:
The interview process is lengthly as there is a lot of hoops to jump through. First of all you need to attend a wet screening (a life guard try out where all the applicants need to do their lifeguard skills)
From there you either pass or fail. Then you go onto the personal interview where you sit in front of the programers and tell them about yourself and answer questions. From there, a pool may or may not contact you based on whether they see you fitting in at their site.
