Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedGood benefits and job security. Not a hard job but the other operators and trades make it more difficult than it should be. I mean were not making rockets here.

Great Place
Attendant (Former Employee) - Saskatoon, SK - 6 November 2023
Had good supervisors, decent pay and mostly good colleagues. Overall a great place to work. Obviously like most orgs it will depend on where and who you work with. But having worked in several facilities and Parks my experience was always good.

Not worth your physical and mental health.
Maintenance utility (Current Employee) - Saskatoon, SK - 30 October 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? The city of Saskatoon has great benefits What is the most stressful part about working at the company? You are a number and that is it, huge division between workers and managers. Very top heavy, so much management it’s hard to understand how they can be so poor at their jobs. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Toxic, they try to run it more like a correctional centre rather than a place of employment. In their eyes it seems like everyone is an addict or a thief trying to clean them out. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Mass confusion with little to no proper leadership.

Fun and exciting place to work, lots of room for advancement and personal growth.
Operator (Current Employee) - Transportation - 14 October 2023
Staff and management is great to work with, as long as you do your job you will get along just fine. Work days can start as early as 5:00am and go to 1:30am. Dealing with the general public can be very challenging and stressful at times but most times they are excellent. Pay is just ok, could be much better but benefits are excellent. After 24 years of service you can receive 6 weeks paid vacation and some departments you can bank your overtime and stat days for time off. Everyone for the most part is playing like a team player, basically that’s what it is one big team working together to make things happen.
Pros
Pay, benefits, time off for holidays and banking time towards time off
Cons
Long hours, stressful work days sometimes, very fast paced at times

No two days are the same usually, which definitely keeps you entertained. The pay is pretty good, with lots of perks (dependent on union). Flexible (also union dependent). Always opportunities to expand or move upwards.

Relaxed outdoor work with a team environment
Parks Labourer (Former Employee) - Saskatoon, SK - 24 January 2022
I enjoyed my work as a seasonal labourer. Although the job can be physically demanding, you get to be outside all day in the summer and can take pride in maintaining our city's wonderful parks. Management can be hard to deal with, and the culture can be clique-y, but overall it's a fun place to work. Beware that as a seasonal employee, you don't qualify for benefits. I worked for them for 6 years and never qualified because I didn't have enough CONSECUTIVE hours.
Pros
every third Friday off (EDO), outdoors
Cons
no benefits

High stress, toxic management
Operator (transit) (Current Employee) - Saskatoon, SK - 29 August 2021
Job itself can be very stressful. Management add a lot of unnecessary stress. Great group of co workers. Lots of split shifts, very difficult to get weekends off. Holidays are based on seniority making it difficult to get desirable time off. (Winter and summer holidays)
Pros
Great benefits
Cons
Stress, split shifts, hard to get time off, management.

The salary is great and the co-workers and supervisors are very friendly. It is a place that one can develop his or her career. They organised internal training for staff at all times.

Low moral and top heavy management.
Labourer (Former Employee) - Saskatoon, SK - 17 November 2019
First 6 years were exciting. Alot of various jobs. Management was a bit much. They throw away thousands of dollars away on poor ideas from city hall, and nickle and dime employees. Poor leadership and low moral was a huge problem. Worked there for 18 years.

Good place to work, not enough hours
Learn To Skate Instructor (Former Employee) - Saskatoon, SK - 10 September 2019
The environment was good, the people were great, the job was fun. The only problem was the hours were minimal because it was teaching kids how to skate and it was on the opposite side of town as me. So going all the wa over there for 4 days of the week for an hour - an hour and a half at a time was not worth it. No problems with management or the job. Good for people who are on that side of town and are looking for a first job.
