Hard to get promoted internally
It is a very good experience to start with but all the management had their own thought and never listened their staff's option. Works are very repetitive and even if you spend a lot of efforts to work on different projects, you won't get praise and they put everything to you. The managers only like the good talkers and never appreciate the hard working individual. No one wanted to work hard there Analyst in Oshawa, ON

Good old boys club
Upper management uses status to pressure staff to hire who they want, which is often family, friends, or staff who they owe a favour to. These staff are not qualified, and their incompetency affects other staff--who are told that they cannot complain. They also discourage staff from hiring good people due to personal reasons. Misogyny rules here. Class system is firmly in place. Horribly emotionally abusive job. Pay is fair. Staff is amazing. Worst management ever. Crossing Guard in intersection of Eulalie and Ritson rd S

[Crossing Guard] Great community, light hours
I worked as an oshawa crossing guard for several years and while the hours weren't enough to live off, it was an easy going job with a welcoming community. Management was surprisingly organized and we're unionized, too, our wages were actually on the way up when I left.Administrative Assistant in Oshawa, ON

Terrible experience
Really despised the entitled patrons that came in, they give you smack about you enforcing policies yet you’re just trying to do your job. Usually resulted in them being let off the hook, making you look bad. Staff would either outcast you or would not support you, usually both. They would leave extra work for the next shift, and some staff that’s been there for a long time simply don’t do their job but get treated better because they’ve been there longer than you have. Each shift I would pray to God someone didn’t collapse at the gym so I didn’t have to do CPR. Some management staff was rude and would talk down to you. Too much liability on you because you’re “representing the city”. Which I mean, c‘mom, it’s Oshawa. Pretty trash to begin with. And don’t even get me started on trying to get a day off, good luck with someone picking up your shift! No benefits, no opportunity to be full time, no chance of moving up in the company, AND you can’t even use them as references because of their policy against it. Sounds great, huh? I would rather recommend you snorting wasabi than working here, it’s less painful. Only thing I took away from here is how much I hate people and how much I hated this job. What would you say about your employer?
