Great group of people with a well overdue union contract

Overall I enjoyed my time at the city, unfortunately permanent positions are hard to come by. Engineering department is relaxed, friendly people and lots of comradery amongst co-workers - welcoming new people easily. Unfortunately the union contract has long since expired and communication around negotiations is extremely poor. The wage is quite low compared to other municipalities.

Micromanagement and lack of flexibility

If you like your supervisor watching you and your work every single minute, enforcing rules they do not follow or dividing the team to conquer it, then you will be happy in this position. If you have a flexible workplace ,a true lider who cares about team and the team well being, stay where you are. You will not be happy here.

Management sucks.

Don't recomend working here for a career. Ok if you just need a fill in job. Office politics and work culture leaves much to be improved but management won't do anything to change it. Too much like work I guess.

My experience has been fine

I'm auxiliary so since covid there hasn't been much work, but always enjoy my shifts when I do work. Hopefully more shifts will come up soon!

Great place to work. Friendly and supportive staff and management. Tight-knit community where you can build life long friendships with the staff + patrons.
