The City of Fort St. John was amazing to work with. The management down to the subordinates were like family out there. Due to covid, lots were laid off.

Parks management is provided by someone with ZERO experience in horticulture.

Culture is sneaky, manager sits in office and eavesdrops on conversations that are documented and used to control staff. No respect for staff. Uses progressive discipline when it suites them. Stay away. Toxic environment.

Friendly place to work! Everybody is super welcoming and encouraging. The job is super easy as well, it allows you the freedom to grow yourself but when you do need help it's always available.

Challenging job, safety was highly viewed great coworkers, everyday was different. Fun atmosphere, stressful at times, alot of flexible shift work, easy to pick up more shifts

Takes a Special Kind of Person

Administrative Assistant I - Auxiliary/On-Call (Former Employee) - City Hall - 30 September 2019

Tasks are very redundant, dealing with disgruntled people every day in most positions, job security is good due to Union, benefits are awesome including paid sick days and paid vacation days, the City is supporting of those with children in terms of work/life balance however upper management often treats you different if you're younger and don't have children. Management is not good; due to the Union system/internal hiring a LOT of those in management positions are grandfathered in and don't actually posses leadership skills or appropriate training for a management position. You must look and act the part otherwise management will hassle you to "act appropriately" meaning they want you to be a robot like everyone else that works for the City. This place kills your joy but it's great for your financial security/future.

Typical day at work you see a lot of different faces, different tasks/questions on a day to day basis. Fast paced environment so you are always doing something.

Decent place to work

Well managed, and organized place to work. Co-workers were polite and fun to work with. The hardest part of the job is trying to obtain a full time position.
