Worked for city for 6 years. If you are friends with your manager great if not then dont plan on being advanced cause they already have that planned.
Hours and future are myth they change and anything happens. Its like highschool all over again with the culture at work.

Productive, Lots of learning and Fun work place
Heavy Equipment Technician (Former Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 18 April 2018
there was a lot of work to do and that way i can learn some of the Technics and how to fix a problem. Really awesome foreman's to work with even though they were old the treat me on their level and thought me on their level. There was not a single day that i was not on handwork duty, step by step they run me through procedure of how engine works. The workplace environment was amazing, every one jokes around and that gave me motivation to wake up early 6 in the morning.

Lots of Safety
Heavy Equipment Operator (Former Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 20 July 2017
Great place to work. Low key and laid back. Be prepared to do a lot of paper work just to use the washroom. They have a very documented system. Welcome to municipal work!

Great job, unfortunately for someone with a family it is not recommended unless you get on permanent. No benefits otherwise.
