City of Calgary
City of Calgary Employee Review
Great job if your lazy
Labourer (Former Employee) - Calgary, AB - 23 September 2023
The work culture is probably the most toxic I’ve ever experienced. But not in the way you think, myself and a couple others I worked with there started calling it “upside down land” it’s a fitting title. Are you’re a hard worker? Steer clear or at least act like you’re not because if these guys find out your going to be sucking sewers. You have zero control where the labour pool puts you (and it’s rigged) you can be the most qualified, don’t matter they don’t care. This review applies to water services only. I can honestly say it was the worst place I ever worked. If your hobbies include, watching paint dry, or sucking air. This is the job for you.

No stress and pressure. Not every but most of the co-workers are easy to get along with.
Parks Labourer (Current Employee) - Calgary, AB - 14 February 2023
Over all, its a nice environment to work. Pays you way well enough compare that that of out side companies. There will always be a jerk in a work place anywhere you go, but you can hardly meet them in the city. Benefits are awesome too! I am lucky to get selected last year to work with the City.
Pros
Its hardly somebody to pressure you on how you do your job.
Cons
In the winter season, where i work woth the SNIC, we only have a 3 days work in a week.

Different work cultures. Offers a broad range of internal courses. Just ensure you have supportive supervisor. I worked in a well-organized dept. and your experience is most definitely affected how a team is managed.
