Productive, i love to work ... need more work days.
General Labourer (Former Employee) - Calgary, AB - 28 November 2022
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedYou worked the hardest / get same paid. you worked hard / you get the hard and low paid job. you worked good / someone will disturb you and argue with you. you worked and kept silence / you won't have enough energy for the next day. you worked honestly / People will unlike you. you worked with all your heart / people will dislike you. When you rush , you do mistake... and when you scream, you don't get attention. When you got the point , people will flank you out of work and context. When you are good... some will say that you aren't right. When you are right... then, they will say that you're not good.
Pros
What's the goal of warehousing ?
Cons
And not many of them can answers that question...

Great job if your lazy
Labourer (Former Employee) - Calgary, AB - 23 September 2023
The work culture is probably the most toxic I’ve ever experienced. But not in the way you think, myself and a couple others I worked with there started calling it “upside down land” it’s a fitting title. Are you’re a hard worker? Steer clear or at least act like you’re not because if these guys find out your going to be sucking sewers. You have zero control where the labour pool puts you (and it’s rigged) you can be the most qualified, don’t matter they don’t care. This review applies to water services only. I can honestly say it was the worst place I ever worked. If your hobbies include, watching paint dry, or sucking air. This is the job for you.

No stress and pressure. Not every but most of the co-workers are easy to get along with.
Parks Labourer (Current Employee) - Calgary, AB - 14 February 2023
Over all, its a nice environment to work. Pays you way well enough compare that that of out side companies. There will always be a jerk in a work place anywhere you go, but you can hardly meet them in the city. Benefits are awesome too! I am lucky to get selected last year to work with the City.
Pros
Its hardly somebody to pressure you on how you do your job.
Cons
In the winter season, where i work woth the SNIC, we only have a 3 days work in a week.

My mental health suffered enormously.
Labourer (Former Employee) - Downtown - 15 October 2022
At first I was treated well, but the longer I worked there the worse I was treated. I felt like I was a criminal in a prison who had to be watched and disciplined for making any mistake. The management had the attitude that they were better than the laborers and therefore did not need to treat me with respect and decency. They have respectful workplace policies but the management does not follow them.

Very long busy days
General Laborer (Former Employee) - Calgary, AB - 29 January 2020
Start early in the morning, and go till evening. Can be very long days but best thing is knowing the city is getting clean. Also doing a thorough job as to not mix any recycling from waste.

Parks Management
Seasonal Labourer (Current Employee) - Calgary - 20 February 2018
I worked for parks since 1996 and now worst season. The city hires contracting out for parks and roads. Normally. Started work on April 1st until November Remembrance Day long weekend. April 1st to November 10th. Now the city changed to April 15th to October 10th.I am seasonal park labourer and truck driver. I was hard worker, maintenance, litter pick, laying on the sods, playround renovation, painting, baseball diamonds grooming, inspect bleachers and more.
Our health benefits are excellent. I do not recommended anyone to apply for parks due to corruption.
Pros
very poor
Cons
needs to improve and needs new manager.
