Lots of learning and focus on employee development.
I had a great experience working there for many years. They are big on safety and work life balance. Communication from upper management was clear and the environment was relaxed.

Great place to work.
I worked for the city for 33 years. I can honestly say I had good bosses and good management for my whole career. I actually loved going to work because it was a fun place to work.

Very positive
The City of Calgary offers much more than a competitive salary. City employees enjoy full benefit plans, pension plans, flexible work schedules, and challenging work. Benefit plans include dental and extended health care coverage for you and your family. Plans cover prescription drugs, vision care, life and disability insurance, and paramedical practitioners.

Overall pretty good
The city is a pretty good employer. Paid well and the pension is nice, I am not a fan of unions but in a big work place it has its benefits. There is a lot of management and some of them could be replaced by a rock, but that stuff happens everywhere. I would recommend giving the city a shot if given the chance.
