Depending on who is your superior, it can be a good company.
Fund Accountant (Current Employee) –  Toronto, on2 February 2016
Very busy office in Toronto offers a great employment for inexperienced and new workers at a low salary. There is opportunity for growth but Salary increases are difficult to obtain. Great for learning and starting out but can't stay there more than 3 years.

Great company, terrible division
Senior Fund Accountant, Real Estate (Current Employee) –  Toronto, ON20 September 2015
Citco Canada, in general, is a great company.

Great benefits. Great pay. Great people.

Just certain divisions have terrible management teams with little concern for the longevity of the careers of their subordinates.
Pros
Free drinks
Cons
Occasional long hours (until Midnight)

Operations Analyst (Former Employee) –  Halifax, NS10 July 2015
Good working environment, have multiple task everyday. Free beer after 5 o'clock and free beverage, coffee, tea, milk all day long. Company located in waterfront Halifax, the heart of Nova Scotia. Close to casino so that you can "try your luck to enjoy" the free parking.
Great benefit to the employees such as insurance and holidays.

No Job Security for Foriegn Workers
Supervisor (Current Employee) –  Halifax, NS10 June 2015
Citco (Canada) Inc. hire foreign skilled workers from other end of the world after 1 hour telephonic interview only to fire them at whim of the direct manager within 3 moths so that they need not pay the benefits and provide any explanations.
Pros
Free soft drinks, beer, monthly breakfast. Decent work hours in most cases.
Cons
No job security, processes not standardized, processes are run at the whim of managers

Tremendous growth opportunities but at a cost
Annonymous (Current Employee) –  Toronto, ON30 May 2015
Citco provides a challenging work environment with significant opportunities to grow due to high turnover and poor knowledge retention. It is a sink or swim environment where if you are able to adapt and learn quickly and can cope with stress you can be very successful. The industry that Citco operates in does not provide a good work life balance.
Pros
Nice perks like monthly breakfast, Free beer after 5pm, 2 company events per year.
Cons
Poor work life balance. High Turnover

The main job responsibilities are to prepare cash and position reconciliations for different clients, and to support other global offices in Citco.

Even thought the job itself seems to be tedious, I still learned a lot from it. Many of what I learned is how a hedge fund and financial markets function in reality. Also I acknowledged many private equities during the work, i.e. bank debt.

The hardest part of the job is to meet multiple deadlines for many clients, especially during the morning. Good time management is necessary.

By doing the reconciliations, you may encounter many new financial products. And I found it very interesting to look into the behind of them and why the broker treats them a different way that Citco does. That's the most enjoyable part of the job.
